What's Happening (12-07-19)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

I just knew with Thanksgiving coming so late that once it was out of the way Christmas would be coming fast and furious.  And man was I right!  Seems like time is FLYING!

We both went back to work this week but an other stay-cation is just around the corner.  I also had a meeting out of town yesterday which meant a tad over 3 hours on the road which does tend to wear me out.  Or maybe it's my coworker who wears me out.  I actually threatened to put her in the truck once (you don't spray STRONG perfume heavily, or at all, when in the passenger seat) and I might have mentioned strangling her with seat belt.  It was all in fun (at least that's what I'm sticking to).

We didn't really want any movies this week and have been catching up on some series instead.  We also started watching V Wars on Netflix and although I'm we're two episodes in, so far we are liking it.  I do hope to get some reading done this weekend.  Here's what's up next on the stack.  I'm about 75% into Snowball and it's so much fun.  I'm also about 50 pages into A Wedding on Christmas Street.

I also received some great review books.  I can't wait to give The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires a chance because you never know what Hendrix is going to do.  The Janes is a sequel to a series I read over a year ago and really enjoyed - and I totally blame Stormi for getting this one. And Dead to Her is another thriller I'm excited for from an author I've read in the past.

And finally, in case you didn't see Monday's post, this happened.  Mr. Barb has narrowed it down to two names and he will arrive home December 23rd.

  1. So right about christmas! We actually had a Christmas party type thing today with a couple who we wanted to get together with, and literally no other time works, so we were sorta celebrating with them TODAY- three weeks before the holiday. But it'll be here like, tomorrow, lol.

    Snow ball looks fun. :)

    1. Well, I think it's basically becoming a month-long celebration anyway. At least you were able to find some time to spend with your friends. That's what is important.

  2. So excited about Dead to Her! And I can't wait to hear what Mr. Barb will decide to name the puppy. Bet you guys can't wait to bring him home, and just in time to spend Christmas with his new family!

    1. The first one in that series was really good. However, it's been almost 2 years so until Stormi shared it, I almost forgot all about it. Puppy announcement is now live - name and all!

  4. I just can't get over how cute that puppy is! It'll be an exciting Christmas for all of you and I can't wait to find out what his name is! Snowball has been on my wishlist for many months now and I hope to grab it in January sometime. I'm still ploughing through my reading to finish my Goodreads total. I have to read 17 books in 23 days so this is going to be hard work!

    1. I finished Snowball Friday night and was completely thrilled with it. It may even be a 5/5 star read. Gotta do some thinking. If anyone can read 17 books in 23 days, I know it would be you :)

  5. I am really glad you enjoyed Snowball and can't wait to give it a try. I hope we both enjoy Iron and Magic even if it's Hugh's book and we both despise him...lol.

I hope we both like The Janes and I almost tried to get that thriller but wasn't sure if I would like it so I will let you be the guinea pig on that one. :)

  7. I'm so jealous of the Grady Hendrix book! Did you get it from NetGalley? I requested it a long time ago and the publisher is just letting me hang there😭😭😭

    1. So true story. I NEVER get approved for Quirk books on Netgalley. But you know I recently reviewed The Remaking, and tweeted to Quirk and the author and low and behold, I was auto-approved on Friday for all their books. VERY odd but I'm thrilled to say the least. Hope you're not hanging much longer.

  8. I agree it's flying. I'm allergic to some perfumes so I am with you on the dump her by the side of the road at least. AWWW I'll be excited to hear more about your new boy. Iron Magic!!!! It's amazing and I love the narrator for it. Have a great week, Barb!

    1. I'm about 30% into Iron Magic and so far so good. I'll have to admit I'm hesitant about Hugh but love Elara. So every time I see your profile pic I'm reminded of how much I'd love to see Charlie cast as Curran if a series was ever made. Am I crazy?

  11. Looking forward to hearing the name.

Spraying strong perfume in the car is not nice.

  12. Oh NO! Ugh... spraying perfume in the passenger seat is so rude! We're having trouble with one of my coworkers wearing very heavy perfume recently... I'm super allergic to whatever she's wearing to the point where I had already mentioned it to her, she brushed it off, so I had to report her to management. It makes everyone in our area sneeze and it makes all of our eyes burn and water... Ridiculous. Some people are just too rude...

    1. That's horrible especially since you're allergic. How inconsiderate.
