What's Happening (12-14-19)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So I swear, where is the time going?  Can you believe less than 2 weeks until Christmas?  I managed to get a lot of our decorations up last weekend but the tree will go up this Sunday.  I love our tree but we've never been a family to have it up all month long.

So we've been watching some odds and ends on TV.  We started "The Watchmen" and I'm not sure what to think about it.  Also, we finished "Castle Rock Season 2" and I've come to the conclusion that it was like taking 10 Stephen King books, reading a page from each, and expecting it to make sense!  Mr. Barb thought it had a happy ending, but then he totally missed something.  So then he was like "Well, that was a bummer."

I have been reading but not as much as I would like.  This weekend I need to finish The Wedding on Christmas Street and also work on The Stand.  I also need to make Christmas cookies which is impossible to read during.

I did get a few books for review this week.  Catherine House is described as a Gothic thriller, which I tend to enjoy.  And I am THRILLED to have an arc of Highfire. I need to know more about the Flashdance-loving, vodka-drinking dragon.   Wicked as You Wish is a YA Fantasy but I've heard good things about the author so I'm willing to give it a try.

And finally, I think many of you saw the announcement but the puppy has a name - APOLLO CRUZ and will be home in 9 days.  I will also leave with a picture of Apollo's big brother Cassius, looking dapper in his birthday bandana.  You can also glimpse some of his toys and his new bed in the background.

So hope you all have a wonderful weekend and week ahead.  Are you adding any good books or are you on a ban until after the holidays?

  1. LOL I'm trying to put myself on a ban because December is supposed to be my catch-up month...not really working though! :D Hope you enjoy your new reads, I love the look of that gothic thriller!

    1. December was supposed to be a lot of things for me - what it has become is utterly exhausting! The cover of Catherine House screams Gothic as well. Hope it's good.

  2. How exciting with the Puppy Countdown! I think I'll just give Castle Rock a giant miss. I don't do well with anything weird or confused! I have thankfully been motivated to read as I need to get my Goodreads total reached...11 to go! and then get the TBR below 900 by the end of the month!

    1. Yes, puppy countdown is getting smaller and smaller. We pick him up the 23rd at 10:00am. We're gonna bring him home and hide him for Cass to find. Sounds to me like you're making great progress.

  3. I'm so behind with Christmas preparations! Both my husband and daughter will be gone for Christmas so maybe that's why, I'm just not in the spirit right now. I'm so excited to see your photos of Apollo😁

    1. They're both gonna be gone? That doesn't sound quite right. Why are you left home alone?

  5. I haven't even started Christmas decorating other than I got out the boxes because we wanted to have Lulu wear the reindeer ears in her photo with Santa. I knew she wouldn't like them.

Can't you listen to audio while making cookies? I listen a lot while cooking and if my daughter is right around I use wireless earbuds. I wouldn't do that if she wanted to talk, of course.

The next 2 weeks will be busy but fun. I hope they go well for you and you get to read a bit.

    1. I really wish audio books worked for me but they don't. They tend to want to put me to sleep. Trust me though, I wish they did!

  6. Highfire has me curious about that dragon. LOL I finished decorating and binged Virgin River on Netflix. It was a cute show and now I want to check out the books.

  8. Maybe you can audiobook something during the Christmas baking?

    1. I don't enjoy audiobooks. I wish I did but they've never worked for me. As a kid I didn't really like to be read to either. I much preferred to grab it and read it myself.

  9. I watched Castle Rock S1 but not S2, I've been debating whether to do so. And yes how is it mid- December already???

    1. It isn't horrible, but just like season 1, it's pretty strange. I actually do think it was a tad better though. Just don't expect a lot of answers.
