What's Happening (01-04-19)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

I blogged more this week than last week but an still not on my normal routine.  Here's hoping one more week will have it down pat.  Sorry if I own you replies - they are coming!

This last week of vacation has been spent reading, watching and pup maintenance.  I managed to finish watching The Witcher which I enjoyed but which also confused me.  I heard season 2 isn't due until 2021 so that will give me plenty of time to read a few of the books and rewatch season 1 in hopes I understand more.  We also started watching Lost in Space Season 2.  We're 3 episodes in and so far I'm liking season 1 better.  However, the 3rd episode picked up soon.  I started watching season 2 of YOU when Mr. Barb was at work Friday and once again, I find myself rooting for Joe.  I must be sick and twisted.  And finally we have watched the first 3 episodes of The Mandalorian.  All I can say is Baby Yoda rocks!  Oh and I almost forgot, I've watched the entire season 1 of Virgin River on Netflix and liked it much more than anticipated.

I managed to finish 2 books already in 2020 and strange enough, they are romance.  With Apollo all over the place they have required less attention than my favorite genres but I am craving thrillers and horror so soon!  I plan on reading Good Girls Lie over the weekend.  Need to get it done quickly for a tour spot.  I'm also starting the first book in the series Stormi and I have picked next but I'm keeping it for a surprise.

I did get a few books for Christmas this year and wanted to share.  Stormi got me a gift card and I purchased a ebook I've wanted since it came out - Laughter at the Academy.  Thanks Stormi!  Mr. Barb got me a few books as well.  First up is the newest Harry Potter illustrated edition, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as well Aurora Rising, Stevie Nicks: Visions, Dreams, & Rumors, and Darkdawn so now I can read the whole trilogy.

So last but not least, Apollo is doing fine.  We've been trying to crate train which is going okay but the real test is Tuesday.  He doesn't have to be alone all day until then.  Luckily Mr. Barb and I can both come home and check on him during our lunches.  So here's a few pictures before I turn things over to Cassius.

Here is Apollo the only time he is quiet - when he's asleep.  The cap is very fitting.

This is Apollo on Christmas morning.  He isn't actually asleep, he's just figuring out what toy to massacre yet.

And finally, he does send to have a thing for electronics and here he is watching TV with Dad.

CRAZY S**T MY BROTHER DOES

1. Remember last week I told you he touches me?  Well he STILL touches me.  Except every once in a while it's now okay.  I mean, when he's sleeping and not trying to chew on me, he's not completely bad.

2.  The boy can throw a tantrum!  If he doesn't get what he wants when he wants, he starts making all kinds of questionable noises - grunts, growls, barks, whimpers and whines.  He's EXTREMELY vocal.

3.  He still thinks MOM is a chew toy.  Never Dad, just Mom.  He needs to get a clue.  I may not tolerate it much longer.

4.  He might not be that dumb because he took to walking around the neighborhood on a leash pretty easy.  Of course I taught him how :)

5.  Mom says that while she loves Apollo, she's loved ME forever so I think I'm still pretty special.

So how was your week????

  1. Apollo is adorable. I posted pictures of my Falcor on my blog a few days ago. Dogs are fun. I've read 2 books so far this year too.

  3. Happy New Year, Barb! It sounds like you had a nice week. I haven't yet see Witcher, but I would like to see it. My husband is enjoying it. Yay for finishing books already this year! I was surprised by how much romance I read this past year. It's not usually my go to genre, but I guess it was what I most needed at the time. We'll see how this year pans out . . . I hope you enjoy all your new books! I keep hearing good things about Aurora Rising. Apollo is so cute! Poor Cassius. Having a younger brother can be such a pain. LOL

I hope you have a great weekend, Barb.

    1. Yes, Cass is feeling the pain. I think he likes him though. He was alone for 8 months after we lost Booker and I already see him being more active. Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well.

  4. We finished watching season two of Lost in Space. Eh...it was okay but season one was much better, IMO. Hope you have a great week and Happy New Year!

    1. That's how we are feeling. We've only seen 3 so far. On the other hand, I'm almost done with Season 2 of YOU. It's addictive.

    1. I liked Good Girls Lie but not as much as I wanted to. It was a solid read though and if you are interested, I say go for it. I got a free trial of Disney but plan on getting it for a few months so I can watch what I want. We end up canceling and then signing back up once things are on we want to watch. If you're not careful, you can end up having EVERYTHING and paying too much. I think they count on that.

    2. That's definitely true. And is honestly the one thing holding me back from Disney + a bit- the fact that I can't really afford ALL the channels lol. I did do that with HBO Now though- I got it just for Game of Thrones and Big Little Lies, then canceled. I've done that w/ Hulu too lol

  7. Hope everything goes well when you have to go back to work with Apollo. He looks so cute in those pictures! I am glad Cass is getting use to him touching him a bit. :)

You got some cool books and I am curious about the one you got with the GC, I have seen it around. Hope it's good!

Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. I know. I must taste better - that's all I can figure. And yep, we are making sure Cass knows how special he is. I think he feels pretty secure - especially when I'm now getting up even 15 more minutes earlier so I can walk him alone before work.

  9. I love Cass' comments on the new interloper. You got some great books! I find romance is easy because it is so obviously fiction. And that's funny because I read scifi and fantasy and they often feel more realistic. I am on a full on mystery/thriller binge myself.

Have a great week and enjoy your new reads!

    1. I love all genres but do have my faves. I just finished a thriller but read two romances before that. As long as I'm reading, I'm happy :)

  10. Apollo is precious! I've been trying hard to stay current with visiting blogs and replying to comments. I hope to get a routine down now that the new year is here. There has to be a way. LOL

    1. It's a hard routine to crack huh? I always think when I'm off I'll do so much more visiting and blogging and then I end up not even wanting to boot up the laptop.

  11. I wasn't a fan of The Witcher. It kind of put me off wanting to read them. I loved Baby Yoda!

    1. He is definitely adorable. I won't lie, The Witcher confused me. I tend to like Yennifer more than Geralt though which may say something about me liking questionable characters. Have you watched YOU Season 2 yet - thoroughly enjoying it.

  12. The days with a new puppy. Wonderful and terrible all at the same time :) I don't even know how you actually had the time to read or do any blogging. I hope he does well in his crate today. Nice new reads you picked up during the holidays. I hope you have a great week!

  14. I remember going to stay with my daughter when she got her puppy a few years ago. She had to work so I was the daytime puppy Grandmom and she was the overnight puppy Mom. We were both exhausted and our backs were killing us since the breeder said Bailey shouldn't go up and down steps too much until she was older so we were carrying her a lot everyday. It was hard, but so much fun, too, since she was such a cute puppy (as they all are)! Apollo is another of those so cute puppies!

And Cassius's comments are spot-on for what my cat Elf is mumbling and grumbling about Olie. He never stops following her unless he's asleep!

    1. Hope Olie is adjusting well. Puppies are a lot of work but a lot of fun and love.

Puppies are so naughty, poor Cass, ha ha. Never a dull moment. 🐾✨

    Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉

  16. The Witcher confused me as well... I don't do well with shows that don't make sense until the very end. I'd like to go back and rewatch now that I know what the deal is, but I probably won't.
