TITLE: Giant George - Life with the World's Biggest Dog
AUTHOR: Dave Nasser with Lynne Barrett-Lee
PUBLISHING DATE: April 10, 2014
PUBLISHER: Grand Central Life & Style
FROM GOODREADS: With his big blue eyes
and soulful expression, George was the irresistible runt of the litter.
But Dave and Christie Nasser's "baby" ended up being almost five feet
tall, seven feet long, and 245 pounds. Eager to play, and boisterous to
the point of causing chaos, this big Great Dane was scared of water,
scared of dogs a fraction of his size and, most of all, scared of being
alone.
GIANT GEORGE is the charming story of how this precocious
puppy won Dave and Christie's hearts and along the way became a doggie
superstar. In 2010, George was named by Guinness World Records as the
Tallest Dog in the World-ever. He appeared on Oprah, and
even has his own global fan club. But to Dave and Christie, this
extraordinary animal is still their beloved pet, the one who has made
them laugh, made them cry, and continues to make them incredibly happy.
MY THOUGHTS: I
am a sucker for a cute dog and have had this on my shelf for a few
years. Giant George is a story of the world's largest Great Dane and
the people he owned. And any true pet lover will understand being owned
by an animal. The Nasser's had no idea George would grow to take up
such a big space in their home and in their hearts. This book tells the
story of George's climb to fame and how he helped the family cope
through some pretty rough times. Plus, you can only imagine the antics a
rapidly growing, gigantic puppy can create. I really enjoyed reading
this non-fiction tale and it is a must read for any dog lover out there!
George was not only a Great Dane, but also a Great Dog.
RATING: 5 PAWS
PUP THOUGHTS: It's me! Booker T! And Mom finally let me back on the computer. I am here to tell you I loved reading about Giant George and his family. He was a really really really big dog, and I love big dogs. He was friendly, and caring, and took good care of his people. Giant George became very famous and owning him almost became a full-time job. I don't think I would want to be that famous, I am content enough to have a blog. Please consider reading George's story. He was a real-life doggy and not a made-up one like Mom usually tells me about and he deserves the highest rating.
BOOKER T's RATING: 5 PAWS
