Sixteen-year-old Frost understands why she's spent her entire life in an abandoned apartment building. The ruined streets below are hunting grounds for rogue robots and Eaters.
She understands why she's never met a human besides her father. She even understands why he forbids her to look for medicine for her dying pet. But the thing is, it's not her real father giving the orders . . .
It's his memories.
Before he died, Frost's father uploaded his consciousness into their robot servant. But the technology malfunctioned, and now her father fades in and out. So when Frost learns that there might be medicine on the other side of the ravaged city, she embarks on a dangerous journey to save the only living creature she loves.
With only a robot as a companion, Frost must face terrors of all sorts, from outrunning the vicious Eaters . . . to talking to the first boy she's ever set eyes on. But can a girl who's only seen the world through books and dusty windows survive on her own?
WHY I'M WAITING: While I hate book comparisons, I can sometimes be a sucker for taglines so how can I resist "Cinder meets The Walking Dead?" And hey, even though it's quite a while before the release, it's still sooner than The Walking Dead Season 7 premier.....aaarrrgghhh!!!!! that cliffhanger.
What are you waiting for this week?
The first line had me. I LOVE Cinder and TWD so yeah that sold me.
ReplyDeleteA dying dog? Oh no, too traumatic for me! I love that book cover though.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping since she is so dedicated to saving it, it will have a happy ending. Of course, if it does, 'll never be able to share it because of spoilers, but I will give you warning, if the dog dies, the book will get no more than 1 star when I review it.
DeleteI can't read books where the dog dies either. Or watch movies like that. Glad you give a warning in your review.
DeleteI like the sound of this one! Rogue robots and eaters? Season 7 does seem very far off maybe this will fill the gap a bit. Great pick!

You know I have not ever watched one episode of The Walking Dead....lol. Zombies are not really my thing, but this book does sound a bit interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I almost wish I could say that. The series is killing me. My husband is obsessed with it so I now have to prepare to listen to 6 months of theories on who died. However, I can also add if it was a certain character, there is a good chance I may quit watching it anyway!
DeleteI actually read Kozlowsky's middle grade book "Juniper Berry" a couple of months back and really enjoyed his writing style. I didn't know he was coming out with a new one though!

I haven't read Cinder OR The Walking Dead, but I kind of like that cover for a really odd reason...

ReplyDeleteI agree about the comparison on this one. It has me suckered in. Not sure if it will be amazing or a flop, but I want to find out! :) Great pick! Also, the TWD season 6 finale killed me. I can't believe they left it like that. :/
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving the cover, and the concept sounds like it could make a very interesting story.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dani! I love to see new people stop by.
ReplyDeleteProbably not for me, even though I usually enjoy re-tellings. Hope you enjoy it though!
