Stacking the Shelves (93)

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.

First of all, Tor sent me a copy of the next installment in Marie Brennan's novella Ree Varekai series.  I'm beyond thrilled to have this in my little hands (or technically in my e-readers). I LOVE the cover on Lightning in the Blood.

Next, I received a few galleys for review through Netgalley.  Some Kind of Magic is one I've had my eye on for some time and I was thrilled to get approved.  I'm also beyond excited to see what Game of Shadows is all about - I'm pretty sure I've seen it on some W.O.W. features somewhere.  And finally, one of my guilty pleasures in "The Real Housewives of Atlanta."  They are all such a hot mess it's like a train-wreck you have to watch.  So when I saw Sheree Whitfield has written a fiction series, I was eager to give it a go. I vow to read more urban fantasy in 2017 so what better way than with Kim Harrison's The Turn.  Tor graciously approved me for Miranda and Caliban and I think a lot of people are looking forward to it.  I read the first two books in the Barkery and Biscuits series last year and Bad to the Bone has the cutest cover!

I also got a few books from Book Depository I had ordered.  The Christmas Guest was one I couldn't resist (go figure).  Hexenhaus is a historical fiction about witches and Just for Christmas sounded way too cute.  I doubt I'll get it read for this year but definitely for next.

So what did you add to your shelves this week.  I'm really excited for all of these and am already looking forward to my 2017 reading plans!

  1. For me it was the year of zombies and preppers so I agree with you that more urban fantasy next year is required! I have a pile waiting to be read which I'm excited about plus series that I need to finish. I'm determined to read 300 books next year!

  4. oh I can't wait for your review of Hexenhaus. Love historical about witches! The turn sounds fantastic too! I see you feature the Demonist as one of your favorites in 2016. We fangirl a lot over that one, didn't we? LOL
This is Dragonfly by the way. The google API is misbehaving again and is posting my comment as anonymous even though I wanted Name/URL

  5. I'm really looking forward to Miranda and Caliban as well, plus that cover is stunning. I'm looking forward to your review of Game of Shadows. I was tempted to request it, but I'm really trying to rein myself in with requests next year.

  6. I wish I could participate in this meme, but I've had to slow down my book buying. It was getting WAY out of hand! (Actually, I have been getting a lot of ebook freebies, lol. However, I prefer printed books, so I don't like to feature ebooks if I can possibly avoid it, lol.)

You've gotten some TERRIFIC books here! I'll be checking them out on Goodreads. And I see that you bought "Just For Christmas". YAAAAY!!!! I finished reading that one, and my review is coming soon. The story is GREAT, and the dog in it, "Buoy", is adorable. I'm not a dog person myself (I'm a horse person, although I am not lucky enough to have one), but heck, I LOVED him! So I know you'll really enjoy this book!

Thanks for sharing!! Hope your upcoming week is great!! <3 :)

  9. I want to read more urban fantasy too in 2017 so if you know any good ones for an urban fantasy newbie let me know lol. Although I have read a few... I need to find a series that really jumps out at me. Anyway your stuff looks fun, a nice mix of UF and seasonal reads?

    Lightning looks awesome!
