Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS:
Everyone knows what happens in the end.
A mermaid, a prince, a true love’s kiss.But before that young siren’s tale, there were three friends.
One feared, one royal, and one already dead.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ever since her best friend, Anna, drowned, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. A freak. A curse. A witch.
A girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears offshore and, though the girl denies it, Evie is convinced that her best friend actually survived. That her own magic wasn’t so powerless after all. And, as the two girls catch the eyes—and hearts—of two charming princes, Evie believes that she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.
But her new friend has secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad, or on two legs, unless Evie finds a way to help her. Now Evie will do anything to save her friend’s humanity, along with her prince’s heart—harnessing the power of her magic, her ocean, and her love until she discovers, too late, the truth of her bargain.
The rise of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic villainess is a heart-wrenching story of friendship, betrayal, and a girl pushed beyond her limits—to become a monster.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: Pretty much the word "witch" and tentacles (although the synopsis sounds good too!)
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
Oh, Barb!!! OMG, what an AMAZING choice this week!!! WOWZA!!! I LOVE stories about mermaids, and this one just sounds so very fascinating!! And yes, like you, I love stories about witches, too!
ReplyDeleteBesides all this plot awesomeness, that cover caught my eye right away. Just STUNNING!!
So thanks for adding this novel to my Goodreads shelves!! I'll be keeping tabs this one, so I can pounce on it as soon as it releases!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! :) :) :)
Be sure to remind Book and Cass that their mom ROCKS!! HUGS TO YOU ALL, AND "WOOF, WOOF" to the boys!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Glad I helped you add another one!
Deleteoh my, that cover is just brilliant! I do enjoy how villains are getting such powerful stories to shape the characters we know them as, but sometimes I wonder if they should just be left as villains? I blame star wars and the pre-equals involving Vader. Those movies made me appreciate the idea of fleshing out villains, but also they weren't good, so I'm slightly leery of them too.
ReplyDeleteI love villain tales, but even though I like understanding them, I still like them to be villains. Clear as mud huh?
DeleteAs a former Hans Christian Andersen addict, I am looking forward to this retelling. I always like to see how the author takes the story and makes it their own.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it has a lot of potential to be great. I read another retelling of this story earlier this year and it was good too!
DeleteI say yes to mermaids!
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
