So it's been a few weeks since I've shown you my additions but hopefully this won't turn into too long of a post. First of all, I had some books come in at the library which I had on reserve. I've been wanting to read "Prey of Gods" since I first saw the expression of that little girl on the cover and after reading the first 5 chapters, I think I'm going to enjoy it. "Enchantment of Ravens" was an impulse grab as was "The Last Namsara" because I know it contains dragons. Finally, upon my request, my library ordered a copy of "October Faction Vol. 4" because I had to know what happened next!
. "Smoke
I grabbed a few books for my trusty Kindle - Paul Anka. These were either on sale or free - I can't remember which. "The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper" is not something I normally would pick up, but I think it spoke to me since I'm so close to my grandfather. I grabbed "Florida Straits" because DOG and "The Witch of Halloween House" because of WITCH. Finally, I saw Tammy over at Books Bones & Buffy showcase the sequel to "Kings of the Wyld" and it looks like one I want to read but I hadn't yet read the this one so when I saw it for $1.99 I grabbed it!
And finally I received a few review copies - either from Penguin's First to Read program or through Netgalley. "Smoke City" sounds odd and you know I'm always looking for odd reads. "By a Charm & a Curse" has gotten quite some hype so I'm interested. Bother "Two Girls Down" and "Into the Black Nowhere" are thrillers and I loved Gardiner's UNSUB so much that I had to snag this sequel!
So what books did you snag and add to your shelves this week???
I kind of want to read Kings of the Wyld too. Maybe if you review it, it will finally convince me, haha. I just reviewed Smoke City last week! I liked it. I hope you do too :-) Looking forward to your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteIt will probably be March before I get to it so you may not want to wait for me.. I'm glad to hear you liked Smoke City. Makes me more excited to read it.
DeleteKings of the Wyld intrigued me too...I'll be trying a little more fantasy next year and hope to find a few more authors to enjoy. Next year I hope, will be busy for reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it might be too high-fantasy for me but since it has quite a bit of humor I think that will help.
DeleteI want to read The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper - looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
ReplyDeletePossibly because of my relationship with my Gpa but I couldn't resist the synopsis when I read it.
DeleteOoh I hope you enjoy Kings of the Wyld! I seriously cannot wait for the sequel 😁
ReplyDeleteYes, I actually think the sequel interests me more than this one!
DeleteYou got a lot of great books! I have Enchantment of Ravens on hold at the library for audiobook. Hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteIt's an awesome cover - how could I resist!
DeleteThe "The Last Namsara" is on my wish list. I love the sound of it. I think I would have a hard time passing on "Enchantment of Ravens" too. I hope all your new books are good ones, Barb! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love the dragon aspect and it's always awesome when you can grab new releases from the library.
DeleteTwo Girls Down looks tempting.
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie Lady Bird, a coming-of-age tale set in Sacramento, CA, where I lived during the 60s.
Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
That must have been a great time to be in California.
DeleteGreat haul!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica!
DeleteI bought Sunbolt by Intisar Khanani. My blogger friend LaLa in the Library is always raving about this indie author. Looks like you got some great books. I get books from First to Read too. They have some pretty good ones sometimes. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out Sunbolt. It sounds like a good read.
DeleteLooks like a great haul of books. I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting the Arthur Pepper book when it was on sale, but the blurb sounded like a copy of A Man Called Ove, so I kind of worried that it just wouldn't live up to that in the first place.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. - Katie
It did remind me of A Man Called Ove but I've never read that one so I don't have any expectations going in.
DeleteYay for a book haul! An Enchantment of Ravens looks so good, and I've seen a good review or two for Kings of the Wyld too. Hope it doesn't disappoint!
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't either!
DeleteOoh I want to read An Enchantment of Ravens and The Last Namsara! Love the haul!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Haul
They both seem like popular books right now.
DeleteI've been champing at the bit to read Prey of Gods too, and I thought I was the only one who became intrigued by the book after seeing that expression on the little girl's face! I'm kicking myself that I didn't pick up this book earlier, because I'v heard such amazing things about it :D
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
No - there is definitely something intriguing about her expression. Kind of the "cat that ate the canary" look.
DeleteI hope you enjoy Into the Black Nowhere as much as I did! and the other selections you have are all new to me so I am off to read more about them -- I'm particularly interested in the Prey of Gods! South Africa no less!!
ReplyDeleteI thought UNSUB was terrifying and it gave me more nightmares than most of my horror reads. Really looking forward to this one.
DeleteAll your new books look really good, Barb, and I hope you'll enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead and happy reading:)
Thanks Lexxie. Hug the pups for me.
DeleteThe Last Namsara looks and sound so good. I got it as a library book awhile back, but I had to return it before I got more than 30 pages in. I guess I'll just have to buy my own copy sometime... ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Hope you can grab it again soon!
DeleteBy a Charm and a Curse does look really fun. I'm kind of waiting to see what people think of that one. I've not heard of Unsub, but I'll have to check it out. I've been leaning more towards darker adult lately. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIf you like thrillers, I don't think UNSUB would disappoint you.
DeleteWait! You named your Kindle Paul Anka? That's fabulous. I remember him as a singer, but I remember him more as the dog on Gilmore Girls. Enjoy all your books!
ReplyDeleteIt's named after the dog on Gilmore Girls. That's one of my favorite shows!
DeleteGardiner and Luna's books look good. Happy reading.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
I think I'll enjoy them both!
DeleteI almost requested the Last Namsara! but I don;t want to ruin my newly acquired NG ratio so I'll stay away from ARCs for now :) And I don;t think I'm ready for dragons just yet since I just went back to Vampires
ReplyDeletethanks to whom??? huh??? who was my fairy godmother of vampires? :) xoxo
I am really excited about the sequel to Unsub. I also grabbed Two Girls Down from First to Read. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteAll those books look so good! Enjoy! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOoh, quite a few there I've been meaning to check out too. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAn Enchantment of Ravens is on my wish list I hope you enjoy your impulse buys ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely haul. I also have a copy of Books of the Wyd which I can't wait to read.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Can you believe I actually didn't snag too much of anything for my shelves this week? Too busy :) but in a way, that's good, cause last month it was 20 xD
