Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week, in honor of Dogs Days of Summer hosted by La La in the Library and Jo's Book Blog I'm featuring two upcoming titles - one horror and one dog-related.
FROM GOODREADS: Seventeen-year-old Edgar Poe counts down the days until he can escape his foster family—the wealthy Allans of Richmond, Virginia. He hungers for his upcoming life as a student at the prestigious new university, almost as much as he longs to marry his beloved Elmira Royster. However, on the brink of his departure, all his plans go awry when a macabre Muse named Lenore appears to him. Muses are frightful creatures that lead Artists down a path of ruin and disgrace, and no respectable person could possibly understand or accept them. But Lenore steps out of the shadows with one request: “Let them see me!”
FROM GOODREADS: Her boyfriend has left her for his personal trainer, her mother has absconded with her latest husband for the holidays, and--adding insult to (literal) injury--her London apartment has just been destroyed by a gas leak. Single, mildly concussed and temporarily homeless, Charlie realizes there's only one place to go: Cozy Canine Cottages, where she'll spend the season looking after her cousin Jez's doggy day care center. And if she's not exactly a dog person, well, no one has to know...
But her plans for a quiet Christmas in a quaint country village are quickly dashed. Peggy the pregnant beagle and Malcolm the anxious Great Dane seem determined to keep her up all night. A strange man has been casing her cousin's house. And where is Cal, the unbearably patronizing but disturbingly handsome local vet, when she needs him?
As the days tick down to Christmas, Charlie's life has never felt so out of control--but with some help from her new four-legged friends, she just might learn a thing or two about living in the moment, embracing the unexpected and opening herself up to love...
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: For as long as I can remember, I've always been obsessed with Poe stuff and I've been waiting for the cover reveal of Cat Winters' book so when I saw it, I knew I'd have to share. As far at the "Mutts and Mistletoe," I love my pup books and add Christmas is the perfect time for books like this one.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
Firstly, I hope Booker T is doing ok...poor wee guy! I love that book title and cute dogs! Definitely just your thing!
ReplyDeleteHe's doing fine on his meds. Just staying on them until his surgery and then hopefully all will be fine.
DeleteYeah, I hope Booker T is doing okay! The Raven's Tale sounds intense but also so creative in terms of plot. And Charlie? I cracked up reading that blurb!
ReplyDeleteI know. Charlie does sound so dysfunctional yet funny!
DeleteGood picks! I don't like horror so I probably won't add The Raven's Tale to my list, but Mutts and Mistletoe sounds like a lot of fun and would be perfect for the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon!
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be prefect for that!
DeleteThese sre some great picks! hope you get the chance to read them both soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenea.
DeleteI was hoping someone would feature The Ravens Tale, because I saw the cover reveal and wow, it's just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI know. When I saw it I knew I had to show it off!
DeleteI love anything Poe as well, and while I don't usually read horror (big scaredy-cat here), I might make an exception for this! And the Christmas book looks so adorable. Christmas + animals + cute veterinarians = win.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will be a truly terrifying horror. I kind of would consider it "horror-lite."
DeleteThe Edgar Allan Poe retelling sounds ideal for fans of horror, which Mutts and Mistletoe sounds very cute - though I don't want to think about Christmas just yet!
ReplyDeleteI know but it's gonna come no matter what!
DeleteBoth sound great! I'm adding Mutts and Mistletoe to my reading list. Enjoy both books!
ReplyDeleteRenee ~ My Wow
It sounds like a perfect holiday read.
DeleteThe Raven's Tale looks really good! But then, I'm a fan of Poe.
ReplyDeleteThen it's a must read for you!
DeleteThey both look good. The Mutts is so cute, but The Ravens Tale really grabbed me.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I think you need to add them both ;)
DeleteI've got my eye on that Cat Winter's upcoming release. She's such an underrated author and I loved Edgar Allan Poe, so looking forward to seeing what she does with this one. Hope Booker T is doing well.
ReplyDeleteBooker T is fine. I hate the waiting for his surgery but we have it all worked out. Mr. Barb is taking off and taking him, my Mom is Cass sitting because he will freak out without Booker around and then we have a 3-day weekend and then I took of Tuesday to stay home and baby him. Sooooo much planning.
DeleteOk. That dog book sounds absolutely adorable. I hope that you love both of these titles. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I will - at least I'm hopeful.
DeleteNice, a story about Poe! That's going straight on my reading list.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I wish it came out earlier though!
DeleteMutts and Mistletoe looks like a cute Christmas read!
ReplyDeleteI know - soooo adorable.
DeleteBoth of these sound good to me. And sending get well vibes to Booker T!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. He really appreciates it!
DeleteThe Raven's Tale sounds like I would love it. The Mutts and Mistletoe sounds like a fun read. Great picks this week.
ReplyDeleteMary my CWW!
Thanks Mary!
DeleteI can definitely see the appeal in the Poe story. The Mutts book sounds like it will be perfect holiday reading. Hope you enjoy them both!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get copies of both!
DeleteI want to read Mutts and Mistletoe. It looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteI know. PERFECT cover!
DeleteYou know, "The Raven's Tale" presents an interesting twist on the Edgar Allan Poe poem, but, of course, is much TOO creepy for me, lol.
ReplyDeleteAh, "Mutts and Mistletoe"!! Sure looks like a GREAT Christmas romp!! I ADORE Christmas-themed books, and these doggies sure are cute!! Plus there's some romance, too! "ARF, ARF"!! :) :)
Thanks for sharing, and for commenting on my CWW post!! HUGS TO YOU AND THOSE MISCHIEVOUS PUPS!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
I love books like that around Christmas time!
DeleteOMG yes to Mutts and Mistletoe! What an adorable cover!
ReplyDeleteI was just approved for an eARC today - I'm over the moon!
DeleteI saw Mutts and Mistletoe on Edelweiss this week. I love that cover but I am not ready for all of these Christmas titles to be showing up.
ReplyDeleteNo, I can't make myself read them until around Thanksgiving and on.
DeleteThe first one is a popular pick and one I hope to read as well, and the second just looks and sounds super cute. I hope you love them both!
ReplyDeleteTressa @ Wishful Endings
Thanks Tressa!
DeleteI'm always a sucker for books with Raven in the title, or a raven on the cover. ☺
ReplyDeleteI love that cover as well. Such unique colors used on it.
DeleteYou had me at Cat Winters. Haha. And Mutts and Mistletoe looks like it will be cute. These both sound like they will be great reads.
ReplyDeleteI really need to pick up one of her books.
DeleteWhat a great cover - and Poe - definitely interested. Thanks for posting.
