Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: From #1 New York Times bestselling author Marieke Nijkamp comes a shocking new thriller about a group of friends tied together by a game and the deadly weekend that tears them apart.
FIVE friends go to a cabin.
FOUR of them are hiding secrets.
THREE years of history bind them.
TWO are doomed from the start.
ONE person wants to end this.
NO ONE IS SAFE.
Are you ready to play?
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I've really been loving thrillers lately and this one sounds pretty good. I like that game aspect of it and am curious to learn the details.
CASSIUS'S PICK:
FROM GOODREADS: PC Gareth Greaves first met Theo, a German Shepherd, when he was a 14-week-old puppy. Since then they have been inseparable. The best partner Gareth’s ever had, Theo has saved his handler’s life many times as well as the lives of countless others.
In six-and-a-half years of active service, police dog Theo has located, tracked and detained suspects leading to more than 200 arrests. In that time, he has endured broken ribs, been bitten by assailants and been set on fire. From tackling and detaining an arsonist trying to set a house with three children inside on fire, to protecting Gareth from a gang of men with machetes in an armed robbery, Theo’s bravery knows no bounds.
Time and time again, he has put his own life at risk to save others. This is the heartwarming story of one man and his heroic dog – a bond that sees them go above and beyond the call of duty to keep each other safe.
WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT: Auntie Chuckles over at Chuckles Book Cave mentioned this one to us yesterday and when I checked it out, I knew it would be one Mom had to add to the collection. All dogs are heroes and I want to learn more about Theo.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???

Be still my heart -- Theo should be protected at all costs <3 On the other end of the spectrum, Even if We Break looks damned creepy with those masks on the cover and the blurb.
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic choices! I've never heard of these, so I'm glad you found them😁 That cover for Even if we Break has me wondering what the masks have to do with the story.
ReplyDeletegreat covers and they both look like good ones. hope you and cassius both enjoy them. :-)

I just added the first one to my TBR the other day. I don't know if I could read a book about a dog that gets hurt in the line of work! I'd probably cry throughout the whole book. Hope you get these soon!

ReplyDeleteOoh, Even If We Break sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! Both look good.
ReplyDeleteI read only one book by Marieke Nijkamp so far. Maybe I give her with her new one a new chance? Thank you for sharing it with us and happy reading.
ReplyDeleteTheo sounds like an amazing dog! I definitely want to read his book. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I like the sound of that first one! The second one sounds cute to and so a book for you.:)
ReplyDeleteOh no... The Even If We Break cover kind of freaks me out. Lol. I guess the Theo cover made up for it, though. Dogs always make things better. 🐶
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy these! Thanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
I always love the dynamic between Cassius and you, Barb. Theo looks to be a really special animal. We have a Dicken Medal in this country for animals who have performed feats of bravery - is there anything in the US that is similar? Because Theo surely would be a candidate...
ReplyDeleteEven If We Break sounds like something I would really like too. Full of twists and intense. Theo sounds like he's lead a good life. I hope you enjoy both of these if you read them, Barb!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the sound of Even if We Break and the cover is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I'm glad your mum is looking forward to this book Cass. Theo sounds like a really brave boy and his story should be good. I also like the sound of your mum's choice this week and I might check it out. I like that kind of game element.
ReplyDeleteBoth very appealing, in very different ways. I have sucha soft spot for heartwarming stories. I want to know more about Theo too.
ReplyDeleteEven If We Break sounds a bit terrifying but super entertaining. I hadn't heard of that one before but I really want to read it now.
