Hi guys, it's Cass. Don't worry, Mom isn't STILL in time out and a good thing, she does the weekly treat shopping so T really could have messed that up. However, since he took over things last week, I begged Mom to let me share some new bird-book finds. Since she loves me so much, she couldn't very well tell me no. So here you go!
FROM GOODREADS: The thrilling sequel to S.J. Kincaid’s New York Times bestselling novel, The Diabolic that TeenVogue.com called “the perfect kind of high-pressure adventure.”
It’s a new day in the Empire. Tyrus has ascended to the throne with Nemesis by his side and now they can find a new way forward—one where they don’t have to hide or scheme or kill. One where creatures like Nemesis will be given worth and recognition, where science and information can be shared with everyone and not just the elite.
But having power isn’t the same thing as keeping it, and change isn’t always welcome. The ruling class, the Grandiloquy, has held control over planets and systems for centuries—and they are plotting to stop this teenage Emperor and Nemesis, who is considered nothing more than a creature and certainly not worthy of being Empress.
Nemesis will protect Tyrus at any cost. He is the love of her life, and they are partners in this new beginning. But she cannot protect him by being the killing machine she once was. She will have to prove the humanity that she’s found inside herself to the whole Empire—or she and Tyrus may lose more than just the throne. But if proving her humanity means that she and Tyrus must do inhuman things, is the fight worth the cost of winning it?
FROM GOODREADS: A simple but forgotten truth: Where harbingers of death appear, the morgues will soon be full.
Angie Dovage can tell there’s more to Reece Fernandez than just the tall, brooding athlete who has her classmates swooning, but she can’t imagine his presence signals a tragedy that will devastate her small town. When something supernatural tries to attack her, Angie is thrown into a battle between good and evil she never saw coming. Right in the center of it is Reece—and he’s not human.
What's more, she knows something most don't. That the secrets her town holds could kill them all. But that’s only half as dangerous as falling in love with a harbinger of death.
WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT: I think both of these covers are beautiful and I would love to see some birds that look like that around my house. Not going to happen though, we mainly get finches and pigeons. Mom hasn't read The Diabolic yet but she's heard good things about it and since this comes out on Halloween, I think she will most definitely have to treat herself (and me) to a Halloween present.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK????
I hope you and Cassius enjoy them. :)
ReplyDeleteI am sure we will - when we finally get to them!
DeleteI already have Blackbird of the Gallows on my list, can't wait! These are two lovely covers with birds, good choices, Cassius!
ReplyDeleteI think both are gorgeous! Cassius does well with spotting birds.
DeleteVery nice covers. The birds look pretty wicked. Not sure if I would want to see them hanging around or not. LOL

Personally I'm not a bird-freak (at least not like Cass) but it seems I am drawn to books with them on the covers.
DeleteThese are both new to me, but I can see why your dog would enjoy them. My scottie is a big fan of birds too. I really hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my WoW!
Seems some dogs are just obsessed with them. I have a feeder so we can draw more to our yard so he can watch them.
DeleteThese are new to me, but I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela!
DeleteBoth of these sound really, really good. I hope you get to enjoy them soon!
ReplyDeleteMy CWW: http://tsundokubooks.blogspot.com/2017/06/cww-unearthed.html
Glad you stopped by.
DeleteThey look good. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne!
DeleteI'm a bit iffy with birds on the covers, while I think they can be beautiful I also have a phobia of feathered creatures with sharp talons and pointy beaks (and not so pointy aka geese) but I love how pretty their feathers can be lol. I also need to check out Diabolic...so many books never enough time.
ReplyDeleteSuch a bookworm problem huh?
DeleteI totally agree Cass, those are great covers! We get too many pigeons here too-the darn things are vermin!
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. They're all over our town too.
DeleteThe covers are beautiful and the synopses are enticing. Hope you enjoy them! Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura.
DeleteNice picks, Cassius! I haven't read The Diabolic either so I can't look forward to The Empress, but I recognize the second book and think I might have added that one to my wishlist!

I've heard great things about The Diabolic but not enough time...yada yada yada.
DeleteBoth of those covers are fabulous. I guess I like birds on covers because I've seen some good ones lately- maybe this is a new cover design trend? Well it's okay with me if they look this good!
ReplyDeleteThere does seem to be a bird trend for covers lately.
DeleteThe covers to these books look awesome! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!

Thanks. I'm such a cover reader!
DeleteThese covers do look amazing! Also: Harbringer of death? Nice! I hope they are everything you hope them to be when you get to read them.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to get to them both. I do some reviewing for Entangled Teen so I'm hoping to get my hands on the ARC for Black Bird of the Gallows.
DeleteThese sound intriguing. Enjoy Barb and Cassius! I was too lazy to do mine this week and I have way too many books making me feel guilty right now.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel badly. Everyone gets like that from time to time and if they don't, I would think they might be lying to themselves :)
DeleteAhhh, this reminds me that I still need to read The Diabolic. I keep hearing such great things about it. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteTh Diabolic was a DNF but I'm sure it was me! I can't wait to get back to it again :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll wait until this one comes out before I pick it up. That way I don't have to wait for the sequel if I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi, Cassius! It's been a while since you did a guest post on Mom's blog! Woofie! (Barb, that's "Hiya" in dog language. A pooch down at the community park told me this heavily guarded secret....)
ReplyDeleteWell, Cassius, you can tell your mom that, in spite of the creepy covers, and the reminders of Hitchock's "The Birds", which made me quake with fear when I was dumb enough to watch it, I actually LIKE both of these books! Yup, it's true! They both have dynamite plots that have me totally intrigued!! Nice work, C.!! Be sure to get your doggie treat from Mommy!
Also, please tell your Mom that I greatly appreciate her visit and comment on my own CWW post!! And....HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ALL OF YOU!!! HUGS!! WOOF, WOOF!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Cassius has some great picks. Who does love a book with a bird on the cover?
ReplyDeleteI've seen so many great things about S.J. Kincaid's debut novel, but never read it. Now with more news (and a cover!) for 'Empress,' I'm reminded I should read The Diabolic. :)
