This week I managed to hit both of my local libraries - like I needed more stuff to read. However, it seems like at the closest one, all my holds came in at one and I have better luck finding graphic novels at the other one. I had to grab "Lumberjanes Vol. 3" and "Vol. 4" because I'm anxious to continue this series. "Ravina The Witch?" was a total impulse grab based on the cover. I had put a request in for "Roar," "The Disappearances," and "The White Road of the Moon" and they all came in the same week.
Next I obtained a few digital books from Amazon. Stormi recommended "Engaged in Trouble" to me so it was a #StormiMadeMeDoIt purchase. Both "The Summer Job" and "In the Eye of Hugo" were on sale for $0.99 so I grabbed them.
Finally I was thrilled to receive the following for review. I was really intrigued by the cover and synopsis of "Sparked." Many might remember I featured "House of Ash" on my Can't Wait Wednesday feature this past week and two days later received approval on Netgalley. I've wanted "Berserker" since I first saw it being talked about on BookTube and "Creatures of Will & Temper" is set in Victorian London and features demons and cults so it immediately caught my attention.
So, have you read any of these? And what exciting things did you add to your shelves this week???
After seeing House of Ash featured on your blog, I just had to request it too. It sounds like a great YA horror. And I see Cassius has convinced you to try Roar, which features a prince with his namesake :)

I've seen a few people grab it since I posted so I hope it's good. I'm excited to read about Prince Cassius.
DeleteNot much book excitement for me this week but my dad and I are watching Game of Thrones together and he's went into a bit of shock at Joffrey's wedding which we've just finished watching! Now he's shouting at the football...and I'm getting a headache! Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteHaha. Yep, Joffrey's wedding was quite a spectacular. So glad you dad has been enjoying the series.
DeleteI was just approved for Sparked (I mean I had to request it, right?) I've also requested Molly Tanzer's new book, but I haven't been approved yet. Great haul, better start reading!
ReplyDeleteOf course you had to get Sparked! I've not read anything by Molly Tanzer so I'm excited to see what this one has to offer. Does she have others I should check out?
DeleteI've been really curious about Roar. I need to get the enxt volume of Lumberjanes too and keep on with that series before I forget all about it.
ReplyDeleteThe last Lumberjanes was a tad weaker for me but I still love them and will keep reading them as long as I can grab them from the library.
DeleteRoar has one amazing cover. I hope I can get my hands on it sometime soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cover is definitely gorgeous.
DeleteWoo! That's an awesome library haul. How fun. I've not read any of these but the cover for Roar is amazing and tempts me every time I see it. Hope you enjoy all of your reads!
ReplyDeleteI've heard it has a troublesome love story so I'm not sure about it now. However I like the concept and love the cover so I'll still be giving it a try.
DeleteLOL I love the #StormiMadeMeDoIt ! I've had a few of those too :) I love the cover on the Summer Job! Enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteSeems like I usually end up with one of two a month thanks to our Stormi!
DeleteI need to get my hands on a copy of Roar. I read the sneak peek from Netgalley, and it was awesome, so every time I see another blogger with a copy of it, I get jealous. - Katie

Seems to be getting a lot of hype. Unfortunately that's the kiss of death for me usually.
DeleteOooh! I really need to read Roar and Lumberjanes!

Lumberjanes is AWESOME. Definitely consider picking it up.
DeleteMy local library doesn't have much for graphic novels. I have access to another library that does, but it's too far for me. I use that one for digitals and inter-library loans from Houston. :( I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. I hope to get several of the graphic novels kicked out next weekend.
DeleteI really need to hit up my library. There are some series I want to binge read and they are the best for that! I loved Roar so I hope you love that one too!
ReplyDeleteI don't do well with binge reading books. I like variety and can't read series straight through very well. However, I do love my library and am very fortunate.
DeleteNow that's some nice haul there, Barb. Berserker caught my eye and I'm getting ready to read Disappearances. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
DeleteI just found out about Beserker myself and am so torn about it -- The Norse angle and even Norway grabbed me, but the American frontier bit gives me pause bc in my head it means the American West, and I don't like that.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind books set in the West here and there but definitely couldn't read them all the time. I've heard good things about this one so my fingers are crossed.
DeleteI loved Engaged in Trouble. I hope you do too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've heard such good things - I forgot. I saw it on your blog first. I knew I'd seen someone else really liking it. Mystery solved.
DeleteWe have such similar reading tastes! I want to read Disappearances and Roar, too. And I just requested and wished for Berserker and Will & Temper
ReplyDeleteYou are such a bad influence on me, haha!
We really do. They definitely paired us up well for the blogging challenge and now we can keep following each other.
DeleteYou sure got a LOT of books this week, Barb!! WOW!! I'm not familiar with most of them, but I did feature "Roar" on a "Can't Wait Wednesday" post a while back. And....I bought it at B&N just about last week!! YAAAAY!!! I really need to get into it soon!! (Pssst....you know what? The day I saw it, I took a copy and hid it in another section, because I couldn't buy it right then. Good thing, too! When I returned the following week, THAT was the only copy left! Lol.)
ReplyDeleteI will check out the other books, on Goodreads. "Engaged In Trouble" and "The White Road of the Moon" look good! As you know, no book that appears to be in the horror genre will grab my attention! Lol.
HUGS & SMOOCHES TO YOU AND THE BOYS!! WOOF, WOOF!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Awesome trick and glad you got your copy. Apparently it has a Prince Cassius so it's a must read right? I've heard The White Road of the Moon features a dog so I'm anxious to see how.
DeleteI just love my local library. I'd be lost without them.
ReplyDeleteYour books have very eye catching covers. Happy reading!
Libraries are awesome!
DeleteI haven't read any of the books you have listed, some of them look really interesting. I've seen Roar all over, but I'm holding out for awhile, I just have too many books to reads. After 15 years I recently got a new library card, and I LOVE it. I use it all time and I'm so thankful for ebook and audiobook loans. Have a wonderful day Barb and I hope you enjoy all your new reads. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't get into audio books I really wish I could. But I do get ebooks from their library system once in a while too.
DeleteI am really looking forward to Berserker. I hope we both enjoy it. Enjoy all of these new books!
ReplyDeleteGot me curious about Lumberjanes. And Creatures of Will and Temper looks like good one. I like Victorian London too ;-) Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLumberjanes is really cute. If you can find a copy, you should definitely give it a try.
DeleteI have the Disappearances ARC too! I'll try to read it when you post you are reading it so we can chat about it :) I'll go on NetGalley now to see if Sparked i still available!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read it with you!
DeleteAll the books always come in at the same time, whether it's the library or NetGalley or wherever LOL. That's awesome that you got Berserker! I want to read that one too.
ReplyDeleteThat definitely seems to be the rule of the library.
DeleteI keep meaning to pick up Roar -- it sounds intriguing. Hope you enjoy all these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nikki!
