Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: ‘You know those cracks in your heart, Lorna, where things didn’t work out, but you picked yourself up and carried on? That’s where the fear gets out. And where the light gets in.’
It was Betty, defiant to the end, who sent Lorna back to Longhampton. If Lorna’s learned one thing from Betty it’s that courage is something you paint on like red lipstick, even when you’re panicking inside. And right now, with the keys to the town’s gallery in her hand, Lorna feels about as courageous as Betty’s anxious little dachshund, trembling beside her.
Lorna’s come home to Longhampton to fulfil a long-held dream, but she knows, deep down, there are ghosts she needs to lay to rest first. This is where her tight-knit family shattered into silent pieces. It’s where her unspoken fears about herself took root and where her own secret, complicated love began. It’s not exactly a fresh start.
But as Lorna – and the little dog – tentatively open their cracked hearts to old friends and new ones, facing hard truths and fresh promises, something surprisingly beautiful begins to grow around the gallery, something so inspirational even Lorna couldn’t have predicted the light it lets into her world . . .
An inspiring, life-enhancing novel that will make you see your life afresh . . . Fans of Jojo Moyes, Lucy Diamond and Veronica Henry will love it.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I don't read a lot of Women's Fiction but I like to mix it up from time to time and Lucy Dillon is one of my favorite authors. She has a wonderful way of weaving dogs into her tales and creating characters I love. I've read four of Lucy's books and can't wait to make this
number 5.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
Mixing it up is always fun plus pups even better :) Hope you enjoy! My CWW
ReplyDeleteYep, these books are nice palette cleansers.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Deleteyes.. I was going to say I didn't remember you ever reading "women fiction" before BUT I'm one that is against using that term AT ALL ! [it gets my little inner feminist going! lol ] to me is only "General Fiction" but I know you read all kind of genres especially if there is puppies <3 Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYou make a wonderful point. While I never questioned it, whenever I see "women's fiction" my brain did sort of go "hmmm....what makes it WOMEN'S fiction? Why isn't it just fiction?" I say we campaign to make it a thing!
DeleteI haven't read anything by this author before, but I should give her a try. Dogs in books are always amazing additions. I hope that you enjoy this one. :)
ReplyDeleteHer books are amazing.

ReplyDeleteThanks Greg.
DeleteI will wait for your review. I'm always scared these books will be too sad for me.

Thanks.
DeleteI've come to enjoy women's fiction. This sounds wonderful. And dogs too!
ReplyDeleteI think you might like her other books too.
DeleteYeah, this probably isn't my genre, but I agree with your stance on mixing things up from time to time. Keeps things fresh and interesting, I've been trying to sample more historical fiction and mystery/suspense lately :)

Yep, every once in a while a mix up is good.
DeleteThat's great that she incorporates dogs like that. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYep, she does a great job of making them part of the every day plot.
DeleteAww, my first dog growing up was a dachshund (man I still need to look up how to spell that every time - lol). So they have a special place in my heart and I love how this book sounds!
ReplyDeleteI don't read much women's fiction either, but, like you, I do enjoy mixing things up from time to time. So, in between the starships and paranormal couples, I think I would enjoy this one! Thanks for featuring this, Barb, and I hope you enjoy it!! :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I have already replied to you on Goodreads!! I'm revving my engines to attack those darn zombies!! RRRRRRRRR!!!! HUGS TO YOU AND THE PUPS!!! WOOF, WOOF TO THEM, TOO!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
