Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: When a beloved family dog is stolen, one teen sets out on a life-changing journey through the ruins of our world to bring her back in this fiercely compelling tale of survival, courage, and hope perfect for readers of Station Eleven and The Girl With All the Gifts.
My name's Griz. I've never been to school, I've never had friends, and in my whole life I've not met enough people to play a game of football.
My parents told me how crowded the world used to be, but we were never lonely on our remote island. We had each other, and our dogs.
Then the thief came.
There may be no law left except what you make of it. But if you steal my dog, you can at least expect me to come after you.
Because if we aren't loyal to the things we love, what's the point?
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I first saw this over at Tammy's blog (Books Bones & Buffy) and when she mentioned it, she said she immediately thought of me. If someone stole my pups, you best believe I would go after them so I'm curious to see how Griz handles the matter. Plus I like Griz's philosophy so I think I'm gonna like this kid - A LOT!
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK?
This sounds wonderful. I will of course be looking out for what you think of it. 🐾
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited for it. Wish it came out in time for my February Puppy Love Challenge. I may have to wait until Dog Days next year to read it.
Delete👍✨
DeleteLove the cover and the books sounds good. I'm like La La, I'll be looking for your thoughts on it.

Too bad it will be a long wait.
DeleteIt made my stomach turn just to think of someone stealing my awesome hound! I totally understand Griz's drive!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to She Who Comes Forth by Audrey Driscoll due out in November. Audrey writes literary horror . . . meaty, slower-paced, wonderful stuff.
I have to check that one out!
DeleteI added that to my wishlist - it sounds pretty good. Thanks for sharing it!
DeleteOh, I'm with you Barb -- I would come for anyone who would mess with my doggies! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteYep, they would be in deep trouble!
DeleteThis sounds fabulous. I would go crazy if my dogs were missing. I frequently go looking for other people's pets when they post them missing on Facebook in my town. I found one once. I keep dog food in the trunk of my car in case I see a stray dog lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea about the dog food. Last summer, we were at Walmart and there was a terrified boxer running around the parking lot. Us and a college girl tried to coral it so it wouldn't get it. She had a bottle of water and the dog kept going to a SUV door so the girl opened it and the dog hopped in. She gave it water in the backseat while I ran in to have them make announcement. I met the irresponsible owner. She said she left the car running and the dog had a habit of hitting the door unlock and getting out - then why did you leave the dog in the car alone. Mr. Mike and I were not happy and the college girl commented as she drove off that she was glad she soaked her backseat in water!
DeleteThis is a book I'm looking forward to, too, though I haven't done a can't wait segment for it yet. I love the cover and that synopsis sounds so good. Great choice, Barb.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan. I figured you would like it as well. We have some similar reading tastes.
DeleteYes!! I am worried about the dog stealing part, but I feel like Griz won't let anything bad happen to him😊
ReplyDeleteYea, I think Griz has the potential to become a new favorite character.
DeleteI can see why you want to read it and, yes, the description would make me think of you. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYep, people can peg me a mile away!
DeleteThis sounds like it could end up being really sweet. I'd be heartbroken if someone stole my dog.
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like a book that was written just for you! I hope that you enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks for stopping by The Farm.
DeleteI'd be after those dog-nappers too! Hope you enjoy the story, Barb! :)
