TTT - Straddling the Fence

The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish they  handed over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE.  Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.

 This week we are looking at upcoming releases which I'm on the fence about and which I need to see a few reviews before I take the plunge.  

I do like the aspect of a Raven God - and Cass, my bird lover, definitely wants me to give this one a try.


While the author name alone makes me want to grab this one, I still haven't quite recovered froom "The Cabin at the End of the World."


This seems like it might be a departure from Reilly's other works so I am anxious to hear what some other people think first.


This one seems to be picking up buzz and the cover is stunning...I'm just not sure.


Another fantasy I'm not quite sure about.  It may be a cover grab though.

So there you have it.  I'm just sharing 5 today because I'm under the weather and not really feeling it.  I'll try to do better next week.

    I haven't done that much adding to wishlist recently so I skipped the topic! I loved the two Matthew Reilly books I've read so far but haven't heard of this one. Need to check it out. I hope you feel better soon Barb!

      Thanks Chuckles. Hopefully I'm on the mend. Usually my colds don't last too long but this one seems to be holding on.

    I'd like to try Growing Things. I've read some of his books and a couple I really liked.

      Just because Cabin didn't work for me, I'm not giving up. I own A Head Full of Ghosts and have heard it's a better one to start with anyway.

    I didn't care for the first Paul Tremblay book I read, so I'm always hesitant now about his books. Hope you feel better soon!

    I have a hard time trying Fantasy anymore. I feel like they are all the same. A kingdom at war, and a queen to save them all. lol . Hope, you get some good reviews to look at so you can decide.

      Jo, you are absolutely right. They do seem to all have the same tropes and focus, especially the YA ones. I've read a few good ones but tend to be choosy now.

    Your dog is adorable!

    The cover for The Storm Crow makes me want to read it. I had not heard of it until just now.

    I'm on the fence about The Raven God, too. I think I should probably read the Ancillary Justice trilogy first, because everyone I know who has read the books thought they were amazing.

      I've not read that trilogy either but have heard lots. You know, until you mentioned it, I didn't even realize it was the same author.

    The Storm Crow cover is so pretty. I almost requested it, but am going to wait for other bloggers' early reviews. Hope you enjoy any of these you pick up.

    The Storm Crow and An Illusion of Thieves- wow both of those I agree have amazing covers. I need to look both of those up as I'm not familiar with them.

    Growing Things is out for me because it's an anthology, but I'll give another novel of his a try even though Cabin in the Woods didn't really work for me either.

    The Storm Crow... I mean on one hand it sounds kind of decent but on the other... that bird. I do not like that bird. It's going to eat her eyeballs or something! I'd not heard of The Secret Runners of New York, but I looked it up (because that cover, right?) and it actually looks like something I might like, so thanks for putting it on my radar!
