This week's topic is a freebie so I decided to share with you books that I wish I could read for the first time again. I'm not a big re-reader and let's be real, reading a favorite again can be nice, but can't compare to the feelings you had when you first read it and fell in love. So here we g
The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein
Menagerie (Menagerie #1) - Rachel Vincent
Written in Red (The Others #1) - Anne Bishop
The Prey of Gods - Nicky Drayden
The Shining - Stephen King
Lost Boy - Christina Henry
Just Add Water - Hunter Shea
Pupcakes - Annie England Noblin
The Most Beautiful ) Mayte Garcia
The Entire Cainsville series - Kelley Armstrong
Certain Dark Things - Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Gee, looks like you got eleven. Oh well, what can I say, I was on a roll. If you haven't guessed by now, I HIGHLY recommend all of these!
Ooh, great list and so odd because I was thinking of this very topic only a couple of days ago and yet it didn't occur to me to use it as my 'freebie. I would definitely like to be able to read some books for the first time again - Certain Dark Things being a great choice in particular. Perhaps if I leave it long enough I could reread it and feel like it's all new to me.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I think I'll eventually pick up Certain Dark Things again.
DeleteI'm going to put Pupcakes on my Christmas list! Thanks for the recommendations.:-)
ReplyDeleteI think you'll love it!
DeleteGreat topic. I don't know which books I wish I could read for the first time again. Maybe the Harry Potter books.
ReplyDeleteI almost included them but while I love the series, I didn't feel as strongly about it as some. I do plan on reading the illustrated versions one day.
DeleteI'm totally with you on The Art of Racing in the Rain. What a fabulous book that was.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Can't wait for the movie!
DeleteCool topic. I wish I could read some of my childhood favorites again for the first time. I wonder if my opinion of them would change? I’m a lot pickier now!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I am too. I read tons of Nancy Drew as a child and would love to pick one up again eventually.
DeleteI love this idea for a top ten. I might steal it one of these days! And I completely feel the same about Certain Dark Things😊
ReplyDeleteYou should. Suicide Motor Club almost made the list but before I knew it I already had eleven!
Deleteooo I agree with Written in Red and Menagerie, definitely! I still have Omens on my TBR and haven't wanted to read it for a long time. I've become a big fan of Armstrong.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
I've read the entire Women of the Underworld and while I really loved them, I think the Cainsville series kind of topped it. I'm not sure why though.
DeleteI think about this sometimes too! There are some really great reads that I wish I could add to the list. I think that is why I am always searching for similar ones with a new twist.
ReplyDeleteGood point. I need to do a "If you loved....then read..." list someday.
DeleteI've read a few of these, but have lots I'll have to take a look at! (As though I need more books to add to my TBR!)
ReplyDeleteHope you found some good ones! Definitely add Pupcakes.
DeleteOh, this is a nice topic! I think my pick would be Early One Morning by Robert Ryan.
ReplyDeleteNot heard of that but will have to check it out!
DeleteI guess with some of them if you wait long enough between reads, it's almost like reading them for the first time. Although if they're books I really love, I don't want to wait that long.
ReplyDeleteThere's a security issue with your blog when you put www in front of it for some reason. Just thought you might want to know that, because it made it more difficult to find your web site from the link you left on my blog.
Hmmmm...thanks Brooke. I'll check into that.
DeleteSo I have not read most of those and shame on me for not reading Omens as I have it and the second book...lol. Maybe we need to do another twisted buddy read where I make you read a book I want you to and vice versa...lol. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you'd love Omens. Gabriel is pretty awesome.
Deletei see a few i've read and a few to add to my reading list

Yay!
DeleteWhat a great topic! I totally wish I could read the Harry Potter books again for the first time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark. I think a lot of people think about Harry Potter when they think about this topic.
DeleteOh cool topic- there are some books I would just LOVE to be able to experience again for the first time. and Menagerie was SO good.
ReplyDeleteI WILL reread Menagerie next year as well as the next two. Mr. Barb bought me the whole series for Christmas last year.
DeleteI love to reread, but you're right, there's really nothing like reading a book for the first time and just falling in love with it.
ReplyDeleteI don't reread often - too many new books!
DeleteI second Art of Racing in the Rain. I cried when I read that book, and I don't it would impact me as much the second time around.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
No. It was a special book. Can't wait to see the movie.
DeleteJust Add Water was fun! I always think of the old Budweiser ads...WasABI! I love the first time I read a really great book and get that buzz!
ReplyDeleteYea there's nothing quite like that feeling.
DeleteMenagerie is on my wish list. I forgot about that one, but I remember hearing good things when it came out.

It's awesome. Yes, you should read it soon.
DeleteI always want to say the Dune series for these kinds of lists, but I can't because every time I read them I understand them better and I wouldn't want to lose that. I guess the Harry Potter books would be on my list though. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteYes, some books are so content heavy that I can see how rereading them would allow you to discover more. I've only seen the Dune movie. Is it similar to the book? If so, then I'm afraid I wouldn't like it.
DeleteIt would be sooo fun to read certain books again for the first time. I adore this topic choice! Your picks all sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica!
DeletePupcakes is too cute a word. I need that one I think.
