Like a lot of you, we are having insufferable heat this weekend. Besides visiting Grandpa and checking on him, I plan on staying inside in the AC and fans. I don't like extreme temps - hot or cold. So you could say I'm a middle-of-the-road gal. Give me Spring and Fall please.
There's not been a lot of options with movies lately but we did watch "Shazam!" this week. I kind of thought it would be stupid, and it was in some places, but on the whole, I did enjoy it and at over 2 hours, it killed some time. I've also been reading some. I finished up "Riverdale 2: Get Out of Town" which was a quick read. I also made good progress on "Shadow of Night" and hope to finish it by Saturday. Here's the books up on the stack right now.
I obtained a few review copies this week as well. I grabbed "Hood Academy" because I couldn't resist the cover. "The Equinox" sounded interesting and "Our Dogs, Ourselves" because...well do I even have to say?
And finally I grabbed a few books for Paul Anka - gotta keep that Kindle fed :) I'm not sure why but I was sent some promotional wishlist credit so I was able to grab "The Wanderers" for under $3.00 when it is normally $13.99. I featured "The Good, the Bad and the Pugly" sometime early last year on Books to Bark & Crow about and then it was never released. It FINALLY came out so I grabbed it while I could. And I preordered "Six Merry Little Murders" because it has a Molly Fitz novella included.
So there you have it? Have you been reading or watching anything good. Hope everyone in the path of this crazy weather stays safe and don't forget to hydrate the pets!
The cover to Hood Academy is scary! (I would have picked it up, too!) I am reading Michaelbrent Collins' Strangers. Ei-yi-yi, it's tense. I keep having to put it down to take a breath!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
I'm going to have to check Strangers out. I've heard about that author in the past.
DeleteI'm a middle-of-the-roader, too. Ha ha. π©
ReplyDeleteOur Dogs, Ourselves sounds good. π✨
Have a wonderful new week and stay cool. π
The cover caught my attention.
DeleteI need to re-read The Discovery of Witches series. I read A Discover of Witches and Shadow of Night years ago but lost the plot before the final book released so never finished it. They're just so long!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I can binge them or I might have fallen to the same situation.
DeleteMy Kindle (Maurice) and Kobo (Myrnin) are continually well fed too! I hope your Grandpa is doing ok in this hot weather. I'm not a big fan of heatwaves, humidity and summer in general!
ReplyDeleteLove the names. Gpa is doing pretty good and SU actually took him on a short trip Monday - imagine that.
DeleteI know it's really hot back home, but I'm in San Diego this weekend which is pretty much perfect weather year round. I would seriously move here if I could afford it/had a job hereπ I'm curious about They Kill, I loved the last Tim Waggoner book I read. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteI thing San Diego would be great. Yea, a job might help a potential move.
DeleteI am hating the heat. I got the Wanderers on audio for review and will start it in a week or so. I got a lot of audio review books but that seems to be all I can do while moving. Have a great week with your reads! It is supposed to be 10-15 degrees cooler after rains on Tuesday.

The heat was so unbearable!
DeleteWe are stuck in that overwhelming heat this weekend, too! Won't be going outside much. We saw Shazam when it came out in theaters and I liked it way more than I thought I would!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty cute.
DeleteGood luck staying cool! At least you have a lot of good books to read. :)
ReplyDeleteI managed somewhat but wasn't completely successful.
DeleteSo many great books. I spy several I've not got yet. And, oh my, The Good The Bad and The Pugly! So funny!
ReplyDeleteI love that title!
DeleteShazam does look pretty silly, but fun. It is unbearably hot here, too. I'm definitely trying to stay inside as much as possible. I still kind of want to read the Discovery of Witches series, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to them. Happy reading!

Hope you were able to stay cool. I hope to watch the first season of DoW TV show soon.
DeleteI tried to clean out the garage yesterday, and I just got way too hot. Yay for promo credit!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely too hot to do that.
DeleteWe just got back from our trip today and wow, y'all weren't kidding about the heat wave. I look forward to just vegging our in front of the TV and catching up with some more reading and maybe the movies we missed. I kinda wanted to check out Shazam, glad to hear it was fun!

Such a great title. And I love pugs!
DeleteI'm curious about the Waggoner book - I resisted requesting because I'm already a bit over loaded.
ReplyDeleteLynn
I just finished it and it was really good!
Delete"Give me Spring and Fall please." Hear, hear! I so don't do well in the extremes either!
