Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
So the public has spoken - Cass is now a full-time contributor to Can't Wait Wednesday. That means each week you'll see two books here. Of course Cass is already lobbying for an increase in salary (at least he works for treats - and bandanas).
FROM GOODREADS: Seventeen-year-old Clara is ready to fight back. Fight back against her abusive father, fight back against the only life she’s ever known, and most of all, fight back against scrabs, the earth-dwelling monsters that are currently ravaging the world. So when an opportunity arises for Clara to join an international monster-fighting squad, she jumps at the chance.
When Clara starts training with her teammates, however, she realizes what fighting monsters really means: sore muscles, exhaustion, and worst of all, death. Scrabs are unpredictable, violent, and terrifying. But as Clara gains confidence in her battle skills, she starts to realize scrabs might not be the biggest evil. The true monsters are the ones you least expect.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I'll admit I'm a tad on the fence about this one but I am mesmerized by the tentacle-looking thing coming out of the "R." ALso, I want to know more about the scrabs. It is such a long way away though.
CASSIUS'S PICK:
FROM GOODREADS: First in a fun, funny contemporary romance series about the passions and perils of a local dog park in Miami's trendy South Beach.
WHY CASS CAN'T WAIT: Mom reads too much horror - there I said it! She always raving about scary books and scary novels and while I do my best to keep the monsters away, sometimes I need a break. Although there aren't a lot of details about this one, that cover says anything BUT scary and I think she will enjoy it even if no one gets killed, maimed or scared to death!
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
That tentacle thing is mesmerising, but even more so: a monster hunting team? Fabulous! Cold Nose Warm Heart cover is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am pretty excited for both of them!
DeleteWhat a cool cover on All These Monsters! Sounds like it will have a pretty big twist in the story.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Excited to see how it plays out.
DeleteI'm pretty sure I've heard of Tintera before! I think her books are good! Now I HAVE to go and find out LOL! I hope you love both!
ReplyDeleteYea, I think she writes quite a bit of YA fantasy.
DeleteI have to admit the cover of All These Monsters isn't wowing me, but I do like the sound of the story. Maybe the cover makes sense when you read it. And big yes to a dog park story! Great choices😁
ReplyDeleteI like the tentacle (which is obvious right) but I do think it needs some color change or at least something to stand out. Too much white I think.
DeleteI like your pick, Barb. The cover and title grabbed me right away. And Cass, you chose a good one too. What a great title!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura.
DeleteThey both sounds great! A romance in a dog park sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteYea, when I do read romance tales, they need dogs!
DeleteAn international monster-fighting squad? Yeah, All These Monsters sounds like a great one. I'm curious to learn more about the scrabs too. That's an adorable cover for Cold Nose, Warm Heart. Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI know, what a unique name - scrabs. Even if I do keep forgetting the "r" in it when I read it.
DeleteI agree with Ashley. All These Monsters is pretty intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark.
DeleteAll these Monsters sounds like it is going to have some deep themes. I am more inclined to read Cass' pick, though! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really cute doesn't it?
DeleteOooh! Both of these books sound interesting! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Thanks Ronyell. You had an awesome pick this week as well.
DeleteMonster fighting for the win! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Cass !
Cass says "WOOF!"
DeleteYeah, the earth dwelling monsters part caught my attention too! :D
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Hope it turns out good. Maybe we'll learn more about it before it publishes.
DeleteThe monster book sounds interesting but I'm not totally sold on it yet! It'll depend on the tropes but I'll watch out for reviews of it for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh yea, I hope it focuses on the monsters and the fighting and not the usual YA tropes.
DeleteThe monster cover is very unusual - I hadn't even spotted the tentacle and so went back and had a bit more of a look.
ReplyDeleteCass has chosen well - I love the title.
Lynn :D
Well, being a tentacle freak, it's no surprise what I saw first huh?
DeleteThe monster book sounds kind of scary. I'm on Cass's side...read more nonmonster books...lol. I'm putting Cold Nose, Warm Heart on my list. That lab totally looks like one of my daughter's labs!
ReplyDeleteCass sends his love!
DeleteThe first one is on my TBR, and I love its cover! Of course I love the dog cover on the second book too. Thanks for visiting my WEdnesday post on Lisa Loves Literature earlier. Sorry I am so late coming back to see your post.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard keeping up with all the blog stuff - I certainly understand.
DeleteThe monster book sounds great. And Cold Nose Warm Heart would certainly be a good way to follow it. Hope you enjoy them both!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura!
DeleteAll These Monsters is one I'm really excited for too. It sounds so good!
