What's Happening...(09-14-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So remember the cooler Fall temps I bragged about?  Well they ended.  We've had heat indexes of almost 100 all week.  Needless to say, the pup playdate has been put on hold until it is a tad cooler but I hope it can happen in the upcoming week.  And there will be plenty of pics.  Also, Cass will soon be modeling his bandana collection on our Instagram account so make sure you follow us so you can see his excitement!

We managed to watch "The Dead Don't Die" this week. I think it was an homage to George Romero films and I usually don't like comedy/horror movies but this one was cool.  It had lots of great actors and Bill Murray was awesome.  I also started Season 3 of "13 Reasons Why" and have seven episodes left.  So tell me, did anyone else go to a school where so much drama and so little education took place???  Besides that we've been watching lots of football and working on my #Monsterathon challenge.  I hope to squeeze the new Elton John movie in this weekend too.

Speaking of the Monsterathon, I've now terrorized 2, 252 villagers so I'm inching closer to wiping out my hometown.  Keep cheering me on.  Pretty soon the place will be off the map entirely!  I hope to have finished "YOU" by the time you read this. I had to put it aside to read some blog tour books.  Then I plan on starting "The Imaginary Corpse" and "Time's Convert."

I actually hauled a few physical books this week.  I had preordered "The Institute" and "Gideon the Ninth" and then one of my favorite authors, Laura Daleo, reached out and sent me a copy of her newest book "The Soul Collector."

And finally, after not having any review copies for a week or so, a few did come in this week.  "In Cold Chamomile," "Coached to Death," and "Apple Cider Slaying" are both cute cozies.  "Blind Search" is a sequel to one of my most anticipated reads - which I STILL need to get to.  I think "A Sanctuary of Spirits" sounds good and is there any question why I am hauling "What I Lick Before Your Face."

So all in all a pretty good week.  Hope you guys have had a wonderful week and have lots of fun things planned this coming week!

  1. Ooh, The Institute! I was curious about that one, though when it comes to Stephen King books these days, I tend to wait a while for reviews to come out before making a decision. I'm looking forward to your thoughts!

    1. I've never really disliked a King book although I have my faves. Well, except Under the Dome. Wanted to hurl it after the last 30 pages.

  2. I was also thrilled to get Blind Search! I just finished A Borrowing of Bones. I have too many things I REALLY want to read or listen and can't do them all at once. Have a great week and I'm hoping for cooler myself!

  3. Looking forward to seeing Cass's bandanas on Instagram! I should have preordered The Institute but I've bought so many books lately I've put myself on a buying ban for a while😁

    1. Cass is looking forward to being a model too - and getting a snack raise. Bans for me mean I automatically buy more. It's that "want what you can't have" thing.

    1. I know right? It just seems so unreal. I mean, are they learning ANYTHING educational? Besides seeing the one in the yearbook photo lab so much and this year they include a robotics lab, I'm not sure any of them will be prepared for college.

  7. Every time I read a book or see on TV anything set in a US school I wonder the same thing! I stopped reading school based YA because every new kid got bullied! It was never like that at my school! Ah it's a shame I'm not on Instagram to see Cass but I'm sure he looks great!

    1. We had a few bullies in our school but nothing like current day and times. Of course, we didn't have social media which I think has contributed to a lot of decline.

  9. I was saying on Facebook that proof positive it was still late summer, and not fall, is the ice cream truck was parked in front of my house yesterday, playing its jaunty song. Ha ha. I hope you get cooler weather so Cass can have his play date. 🐾✨ Those temps are off the hook! 😱

I will definitely not be reading What I Lick Before Your Face! Heh heh. I love the cover, though, and will be looking out for your review. 👍✨

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  11. MOI, who's a tropical bird, has been HAPPY as a clam because of the hotter weather :) I do hope pup gets to have his playdate soon though! Can't wait to see Cass with his bandanas! I'm very curious what you'll think of "YOU" when you finish it. I LOVED 60% of it and then UGH

    1. So hopefully I'll have YOU reviewed next week. I liked it but man, there were SOOOO many unlikable characters. Joe was probably my favorite because Beck was annoying as all get out. Have you seen the series? I liked it too but it is a tad different in places. I don't think Joe would have been so bad if he had picked better women - oh, and stopped killing. There is that!

  12. Yeah, it's hot here right now. I would love some nicer temps soon. I started The Institute last night and can't wait to get back to it. I will be looking for Cass and his bandana collection!

    1. A HUGE one. We're talking over 40 (of course some are duplicates because we used to buy in twos - insert sad eyes).

  14. UGH! I was getting so excited about the fall weather. It's 86 here today. I need to go see The Dead Don't Die soon! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. And I can't wait to see what you think of King's new book!
