What's Happening (02-01-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So once again it's been two weeks since I've updated.  Not even gonna make excuses or assign blame.

The pups are doing great and Apollo is growing like a weed.  He has his first vet appointment (for his second round of puppy shots) and all went well.  In fact, he was better behaved there than at home.  He and Cass are still having marathon playing sessions and when they get too riled up, Mr. Barb and I intervene before someone gets hurt.  Potty training is going better as I think he's finally making the connection to what "outside" means.  I would like to say he isn't biting as much, and I do think it's stopped a tad, but man, those puppy teeth need to go!  Cassius once again has some thoughts so he'll leave them at the end of the post.

We have been watching some new things.  We watched a movie called "Rabid" which was actually pretty good.  I think it was a remake of an older film but if you like zombies, then this is a fresh take on them.  We also watched "Hustlers" because I was curious and also because I got to pick the movie the evening of my birthday 😀 It was pretty interesting.  The other night we watched "Zombieland 2: Double Tap."  It was pretty much like the first one with some new things thrown in.  And last but not least we started watching "October Faction" on Netflix.  We have 3 episodes left and while I'm not in love with it, it is entertaining enough.  However, it's not a lot like the GN and I would recommend those because personally I think they're better.

Hopefully I wrapped up January strong reading-wise.  I hope to get my recap up Sunday.  I received a few books for review including It Will Just Be Us which is a Gothic horror, You Let Me In which is a thriller I've been seeing everywhere, and No Bad Deed which is a mystery thriller.  I also bought a copy of The Roo on release day and Stormi and I will be reading it in March.  Just like Booksnake is a current trend, I predict the cover color of the year will be blue.

Also, in case you missed it, the 3rd annual They Call It Puppy Love Challenge is live so you can find all the details HERE.

Now I'm turning it over to Cass for...

STUPID S**T MY BROTHER DOES:

1. He puts everything in his mouth.  Seriously, I swear the kid is going to have an identity crisis before he's six month's old.  It seems all Mom ever says to him is "don't eat dirt" and "what's in your mouth?"

2.  He play with our toys a lot, which is perfect acceptable.  But he also plays with MY toys.  He needs to learn there are certain ones which are off limits
* my stuffed squirrels
*my stuffed donkey named Nestor
*any and all bird toys - that means my blue jay that chirps, my Woodstock, my furry ducks, and my geese!

3.  He thinks he's a rabbit.  He hops ALL THE TIME! It's ironic that Mom hauled The Roo this week because since she's always called me Tigger, she has now taken to calling him Baby Roo - please see #1...will this kid EVER learn his name (for the record, by some miracle, he does answer to Apollo).

So how was everyone's week.  Reading and watching anything good?  Mom will want to know!

  1. Haha, poor Cassius. But despite the complaints, I can feel the love ;) And wow at that cover of The Roo. Never knew you could make a kangaroo look so terrifying! I also hauled No Bad Deed which was a surprise arrival and was completely new to me. After reading up on me, I'm pretty excited to check it out too, and was really glad to see it on your list!

    1. I know, I never thought of kangaroos as scary although I know they are not always nice. I hope No Bad Deed turns out to be a great read as well. Hope we both have awesome Februarys!

  2. Oh I am so going to be hanging out for your review of The Roo. I'm watching October Faction right now -- I'm enjoying it -- it's like the family version of Supernatural.

    1. So have you encountered any roos that look like that. Yea, that's a good comparison for October Faction. I think the show took a few different turns than the GN, which I did like better. Mr. Barb tends to think it won't get picked up for a second season but I don't agree.

  3. I need to start fitting in some film watching at some point but I seem to have no concentration at the moment! I did buy part 2 of It this week so now I can binge watch the whole thing! Things will be better once your brother gets out of the puppy phase Cass and then you'll have more fun together!

    1. Mr. Barb and I make a point of watching things together as "couple" time. It's easy and laid back and we both enjoy it. I hope you love It Part 2. I did but I saw some complaints about it. Cass and the pup do have fun together. Even when we break them up to give Cass a break, we catch him "starting" in with Apollo again. Brothers!

  4. I don't think I knew it was your birthday, so happy birthday!! (Mine's next week😁) I'm also going to be reading You Let Me In. And poor Cass, that sucks when siblings take your toys!

    1. Yea, it was low-key. Mine was the 18th. Early Happy Birthday to you. Do you have any plans? You Let Me In sounds so creepy. Hope it measures up!

  5. Falcor was 6 months old when we got him so he didn't do a lot of this but the chewing was a big problem for a while. He's an only dog so all the toys are his. Although when another dog comes over for a visit, he's good about sharing as long as the other dog wants to play.

    1. Cass is good about sharing but sometimes he looks at me like "Mom, take that from him." I love the name Falcor. Is it from something I should know :)

  6. Sometimes we all need an impromptu blog break!

Hustlers is a movie I've been curious about. It seems like it'll be fun but I have no idea when I'll get around to watching it. :/

    1. It was fun and actually had a decent plot. There was less pole dancing than I expected given the hype.

  8. I need to check out some new shows, I feel like a lot of new stuff has popped up on Netflix and I'm woefully behind! Although maybe that's a good thing, or my reading will take an even bigger hit!

You Let Me In has such a spooky cover- love it!

Lol Cass! Hopefully he learns to leave your toys alone soon haha!

  9. Poor Cass! Having a little brother can be tough ;) I'll have to check out Rabid - I love zombies but haven't watched any zombie flicks in a while. Have a great week!

    1. It was a decent flick. At least it was entertaining and had a plot besides just zombies eating brains.

  10. Hang in there Cass. He'll hopefully grow out of it. LOL The Roo is going on my list right now. I have to read it! I've missed a bunch of posts the last 2 weeks. Still feeling bad and just can't seem to shake it.

    1. Apollo is so sweet - until he bites. I will say I've noticed it less and less, but every once in a while.

  13. I am 100% okay with blue being a new book cover theme, since it's my favorite color. xD I've got an ARC of You Let Me In, and I'm soooo excited to read it.

Cass's section is adorable, and he took the words right out of my older dogs' mouths (except their little sister is a year and a half, even though we only adopted her about six months ago, so she has no excuse haha).
