Can't Wait Wednesday (267)

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

FROM GOODREADS: From New York Times bestselling author Nic Stone comes an all-new upper middle grade series based on one of the Marvel Universe's break-out characters— Shuri, from Black Panther!
An original, upper-middle-grade series starring the break-out character from the Black Panther comics and films: T'Challa's younger sister, Shuri! Crafted by New York Times bestselling author Nic Stone. Shuri is a skilled martial artist, a genius, and a master of science and technology. But, she's also a teenager. And a princess. This story follows Shuri as she sets out on a quest to save her homeland of Wakanda.

For centuries, the Chieftain of Wakanda (the Black Panther) has gained his powers through the juices of the Heart-Shaped Herb. Much like Vibranium, the Heart-Shaped Herb is essential to the survival and prosperity of Wakanda. But something is wrong. The plants are dying. No matter what the people of Wakanda do, they can't save them. And their supply is running short. It's up to Shuri to travel from Wakanda in order to discover what is killing the Herb, and how she can save it, in the first volume of this all-new, original adventure.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I really liked the movie The Black Panther although I know it may not be a popular opinion.  And although I've only read one book by Nic Stone, I loved it enough to know that I'm excited to see what she does with the MG novel.  Plus the cover is pretty kick-ass!

CASSIUS'S PICK

FROM GOODREADS:  Wedding bells are ringing in the latest page-turning Library Lover's Mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Word to the Wise.

Love is in the air in Briar Creek as library director Lindsey Norris and boat captain Mike (Sully) Sullivan are finally tying the knot. The entire town is excited for the happy day, and Lindsey and Sully's plan for a small wedding evaporates as more and more people insist upon attending the event of the year.

When Lindsey and her crafternoon pals head out to Bell Island to see if it can accommodate the ever-expanding guest list, they are horrified to discover a body washed up on the rocky shore. Even worse, Lindsey recognizes the man as the justice of the peace who was supposed to officiate her wedding ceremony. When it becomes clear he was murdered, Lindsey can't help but wonder if it had to do with the wedding. Now she has to book it to solve the mystery before it ends her happily ever after before it's even begun....

WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT:  Mom's BFF Stormi mentioned last week this book was finally announced so I searched and found the cover for mom. I have to admit this is probably the best cover yet and I love that Heathcliff (the dog) looks like he's best man.

WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???

  16. I don't think liking Black Panther is an unpopular opinion. I think it had some issues with visual effects, but overall it was a solid movie. I'm glad Shuri is getting her own graphic novel. She deserves it. XD

    Thanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
