What's Happening (04-05-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

Well, another week off the calendar.  This is one time I'm all for time flying.  I want people to smarten up, do what they have to do, survive, and then work at putting all of this mess behind us.  I'm tired of waking up fearing for my family and loved ones, going to bed doing the same, having nightmares and then repeat.  It's an endless cycle.  That being said, we did spend some quality stay at home time learning how to make sew-free masks.

So everyone at The Farm is doing well.  I visited Gpa twice because I know he is going stir crazy.  I was home all week except for one trip to Wal-Mart - face mask in tact.  My boss is driving me nuts which is a feat considering I'm laid off.  I been reading and watching a lot of TV/movies.  We are now half way through Season 2 of Shameless on Netflix.  I also watched the entire series of High Fidelity starring Zoe Kravitz on Hulu - strange.  We ended up watching Impractical Jokers: The Movie because it was the farthest we could get away from reality.  It was dumb, just like I anticipated. I'm trying to listen to more music too and listened to a lot of Prince as well as the new Harry Styles album this week.

Here's the books I'm cracking open this weekend.   Summer of Reckoning is for a blog tour and The Amityville Horror is for the Retro Horror series Stormi and I are doing.

And finally I received a few books for reviews. I also grabbed a few for my Kindle but I'll share those next week.  Lots of people are having great deals in light of everything going on.

I couldn't resist Good Dogs Don't Make It to the South Pole because it has two of my favorite tropes - dogs and the elderly.  I think the cover of The Midwives says it all and The Darkling Halls of Ivy has some great authors.

Hope everyone is staying safe and thanks for visiting The Farm.  We really appreciate you stopping by!

  1. It's definitely hard adjusting to this new reality, and I'm more of a homebody! I just can't imagine what it's like for people who like to go out and be around others, I bet like your grandpa they're going stir crazy. At least we've got our books, right? Looks like some good reading ahead of you!

    1. I bet my coworker, who can't stay home to save her life, is losing it by now. I have checked in with her a few times and I think she is more worn out staying home than she would be running around all day.

  3. Yeah, I can't wait till all this is over. I really hope the end of April is a turning point and well be able to loosen up restrictions. I'm excited you and Stormi are reading The Amityville Horror! That was one of the first horror books I read as a kid, maybe even before Stephen King (or maybe around the same time).

    1. I just heard the west coast is making plans to reopen soon. I think Stormi picked about retro horror read but we do have two buddy reads planned as well.

  4. Glad you're staying safe, Barb! It is frustrating to hear news about people getting citations for having large get-togethers. There are just some people in my state who don't get it.

    1. I remember being younger and the movies scaring the crap out of me. Wonder if the book will make me feel the same way.

  7. I wish people would smarten up, too, so this whole nightmare would end sooner, 'cause I'm getting really tired of it. :P

  8. I hope you can enjoy your time at home. I'm struggling a bit with focus. But I'm grateful we have what we need. At least we have lots of great books to read!

Have a wonderful week! Be kind and take care of yourself!

  9. I want things to go back to the normal we had before this virus but I fear things have changed forever. My anxiety levels are very high but I'll fight to keep my dad safe as I can't control anything else. It's just all so scary right now. If people would just LISTEN to official advice we could come out of this quicker. It's so frustrating. Stay safe my friend.

  10. I do hope that people can just do what they need to do so that we can get past this. I am glad you were able to see your grandpa. I would say that it is quite an accomplishment to have your boss driving you nuts while you are laid off. I hope you have a good week and read lots of great books!

  11. I'm an introvert and a homebody but this is too much even for me. I hope people do what they're supposed to do to stop the spread.

  12. I'm happy to hear grandpa is doing well. 👍✨

I am going to be sewing some t-shirt masks for Baz today. Wish me luck. 😇

My aunt by marriage's sister lived about three miles from the Amityville Horror house and they had friends who only lived a few doors down, and when all of those things were supposedly happening to the family they said they never heard, nor saw, any commotion going on. I wonder if there are any accounts from families who have lived there afterwards? I should re-read the book in October. I hope you enjoy it. 👹

I hope you are having a good week! 🌞

    1. See, I'm curious how much of it was a hoax. However, the house, with those two windows that look like eyes, is very ominous looking.
