Farm News - April 13, 2025

What a week!  I cannot believe that it is actually Spring because it sure doesn't feel like it.  We even had a freeze warning last night.  On top of that, if you remember at the end of February mt grandfather's home, which I became co-owner of with my Stupid Uncle (SU) when my grandfather passed.  I was finally contacted by him through an attorney Friday.  Apparently, he now wants us to buy him out or him buy us out and has made an offer.  I don't trust him and think he's trying to pull a fast one with the offer, so I spent some time Friday doing my own investigating on the situation and meet with an attorney on the 21st.  I hope it can get resolved because I want to put that behind me.

The pups are doing fine.  Zekey has a tendency to pull when walking so I've cracked down and have been working hard on training him.  I even bought a special harness to assist.  He is the only dog we've had who has done this, so I don't know if we did something wrong or if we've just gotten lucky in the past.

It was a great two weeks for arcs and I got a some of my most anticipated reads.  Again, thanks to Netgalley and the publishers.

The Mean Ones: Tatiana Schlote-Bonne
Let's Split Up: Bill Wood

I also have a few books on the go right now.  I should be able to finish Janitors vs The Living Dead today and will then jump into The Lair.  Minneapolis Reign is a non-fiction about Prince and his hometown and I've just been picking it up here and there and reading a chapter or two between things.

Mr. Barb and I are also watching The Bondsman on Amazon Prime.  I think we have three episodes left and I'm really enjoying it.  Of course, I am a huge Kevin Bacon fan.  This show reminds me a bit of his character in Tremors meets the TV show Supernatural.

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by Booker T's Farm.

  1. Ugh, I hope you're able to figure out the house thing. Do you want to keep it? Or would you prefer to have your uncle buy you out and get the money from it? I can't remember which way you had said you would prefer. My dogs always pull on their leashes, but I know it's because I suck at training, lol. Well, Dora doesn't pull, she just wants me to pick her up and carry her. I am hoping to start watching Bondsmen soon, it looks so good! Hope you have a good week, we had some freezing temps last week too, but hoping they are through?

    1. No, I actually want out of the whole mess. It has really divided the family and I just want to move on. Zekey is three days into his new training and I've noticed a BIT of an improvement. The key is having the hook to the leash in front so it turns them around if they pull too hard. He kind of hates it but I'm only using that method for short periods of time.

  2. I think you are smart to do research and possibly consult an attorney. yes the weather has been doing some 25 degree swings here in the daytime high (60-85) and we had one freeeze warning as well. I was only worried about the basil though. Lulu also does the pulling but she weighs so little it isn't too bad but we should break her of it.

    1. Yes, pulling is definitely different when the dog weighs close to 80 pounds!

  3. I'm sorry for what you are going through. I hope the situation works out in whatever way you want it to. I have the Kevin Bacon series on my list to watch. I'm a fan of his, too, and this looks really good. Now that The Pitt is over, I can fit this one in. Hope you have a great week!

  4. We are actually supposed to get snow later this week! Ugh. It's been beautiful weather but I guess we're just being teased, lol. I also got Slayers of Old, I'm excited to read it. I think some dogs just pull more than others. Good luck training him! And good luck with the house, that's got to be tough with SU in the mix.

    1. Yea, boxers are working breed dogs so they say it is quite normal for them to want to pull. Makes sense it's just that our other 6 never did. Hmmm, makes me wonder - haha.
