The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but starting this week, they are handing over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE. Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.
This week we are looking at bookish resolutions. I'm not huge on resolutions so I can't guarantee 10 but here we go.....
1. CREATE SOME NEW CONTENT
I've already started on this some. You may have noticed a new monthly feature starring Booker T and Cassius which will allow us to look at some older books and not just new releases. Also, Stormi and I have a neat project planned for February. There is also the "They Call It Puppy Love" mini-reading challenge I'm hosting that month. I just want to keep things fresh and not fall into a rut.
2. PARTICIPATE IN SOME DIFFERENT READING CHALLENGES:
Again, kind of already accomplished. I love my old challenges and will keep some of my faves (Cloak & Dagger, What an Animal and COYER) but I want to reach outside the box/comfort zone this year.
3. FIND SOME NEW BLOGS TO LOVE
4. TRY NOT TO WORRY ABOUT NUMBERS SO MUCH
It's easy to get discouraged with reading progress, number of follows, different social media outlets and followers. I just want to be providing content that people are enjoying and if I pick up some new followers along the way, great. If not, I've made a great group of blogging friends and I love visiting with them so all is good.
5. READ MORE
No-brainer right?
So there you have it. It might not be 10 but it's a strong 5 and see #4 :)
Lol well you're doing a great job of not worrying about numbers in this post ;-) These sound like great goals! It can def be discouraging when #s get stuck or low, but you're right, either way, we've got a great community going here!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I really love the bloggers I visit and interact with on a weekly basis and if I can add even 5-10 more to that list this year, then it's a win.
DeleteI have to agree with #4, it easy to get discouraged. Booker T and Cassius are always a joy, love books to bark.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jovita. They love their "guest" appearances.
DeleteI'm trying to stop worrying about numbers, too, but I didn't think to make that one of my resolutions! Instead of constantly checking my pageviews, I've been making a note of them every evening and forcing myself to leave the stats page alone all day. It seems to be working so far - maybe something like that could work for you too?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. Thanks!
DeleteIt sounds so simple doesn't it-read more! I do need to do more of that this year. I like your new feature-those lovely boys deserve their own spot!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad people are liking it - but I would continue it even if they didn't because I love featuring the boys!
DeleteThose are some good goals! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stormi!
DeleteI totally agree with not worrying about the numbers. If I really think about it, I have more readers already than I ever expected, so that's something!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Me too!
DeleteGood luck! These all sound like great options. Reading more would seem easy but sometimes other things can be distracting so adding it is always a plus!
ReplyDeleteYes, things do get in the way. But I get cranky if I go a day or two without reading.
DeleteIt's a good five.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could just relax and not worry about the numbers, but I can't. *cry* Seriously, it's driving me nuts. LOL.
I want to read more popular books this year. Still focusing on indie author stuff, but a little more time for the stuff everyone else is reading.
I have to admit - I do love your indie finds. In fact, there are many on my wishlist. Although it can be fun to read what everyone else is reading too!
DeleteGood luck with your goals. I know you will kill it at your challenges. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen.
DeleteCreating new content is something I'm working on as well. I feel like all I post about is reviews, book hauls and sometimes memes. I just need time to sit down and think about what I want to do!
ReplyDeleteSometimes twisting it up a bit keeps it fresh. I love your new heading/logo so you've already made some great changes.
DeleteLoving your goals - so sweet and simple. Creating new content is also a must for me, I want to mix things up a little so I'm not posting book reviews all the time! Hopefully that ties into my goal of reading less (yeah you read that correctly) but I felt reading was taking over too many other things! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck branching out and doing other things. Sometimes it's good to slow down!
DeleteLove the goals! I am also working on some new content and changing things up to give the blog some new legs. Good luck with all your goals!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting The Farm Sarah.
DeleteOh I love #4! That's such a beautiful attitude to have towards blogging. We do what we love and if people join us along in this fun journey, then that's amazing. Love it! And yesssss to reading more! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen. I've met lots of great people blogging so I expect to meet some more :)
DeleteI don't care about my numbers. I mean it's awesome to know that people are reading my blog but it's the comments that keep me going. The day the comments die is the day I may stop forever. I hope to read more from the tbr and visit all of you more of often. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're up to in Feb :)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the comments. I have a hand full of bloggers that just seeing their names show up in the comment section is enough to make me giddy. I love reaching new people but when it all comes to blows, I would read and blog whether I get new audiences or not.
DeleteTry not to worry about numbers so much is one I should listen to as well! Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison.
DeleteGreat goals! I definitely agree with not worrying about the numbers and well... reading more :) And of course finding some new blogs to love is always fun. Good luck with all of these!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I tried to keep my goals simple yet meaningful.
DeleteI totally agree about the importance of not worrying about the numbers. Comparison is truly the thief of joy. If I compare anything, I try to just compare myself against how I was doing last year or last month. That way it is only numbers I feel like I have control over, and not someone else's accomplishments that I am comparing myself to. Good luck with your 2018 goals!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I don't mind comparing my own numbers but that's where it stops :)
DeleteThese sound like fun and reasonable goals, Barb! I think we all would agree with your last one especially. :-) Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI agree with you so much on #4. I'm gonna try really hard this year to not worry about numbers too. Great list! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley.
DeleteThanks Ashley.
DeleteI'm also really trying to do post more original content. I love my weekend posts, but would love to start blogging at least a little bit more again. I also did 5 goals--it seemed like a perfectly reasonable amount. :)
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books
I agree. 5 is definitely doable.
DeleteThese are great goals, especially the one about not worrying about numbers so much. Good luck achieving all of these :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne. There is enough in life to worry about beside something that's supposed to be fun.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing what Booker T and Cassius come up with for us this year. :)
ReplyDeleteThey always have something up their paws.
DeleteGreat Resolutions! I will definitely be checking out the puppy love challenge. I don't have any resolutions except to keep reading what make me happy and not be stressed about ARCs and reviews.
ReplyDeleteHope you get a chance to participate!
DeleteThese are all great goals, Barb! I think that ignoring numbers is one that is really important but sometimes hard. I am sure you will do well with these.
ReplyDeleteIt can be hard at times but I really try not to gauge them against anyone elses.
DeleteGreat list! I'm also trying to participate in new reading challenges this year!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my TTT!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
I'm having fun with the new ones I chose. Good luck with yours!
DeleteThese are great Barb! I'd also like to read more, find new blogs to follow, and create new content this year. I wish you all the luck with your goals!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm so glad to see you blogging again!
DeleteWhat wonderful goals! Challenges are something I'm working on this year too. I'm participating in a couple, and they've been going great so far. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren.
DeleteGreat goals, Barb. Love you Puppy Love Challenge. Sounds wonderful. I don't often read books with cat or dogs. That might need to change. Good luck with all your goals. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteSurely you can find one :)
DeleteThere are some great goals. It's never a bad thing to take it easy, I'm thinking I need to adopt some of these resolutions as well and not worry too much about numbers and stats, instead just focus more on reading stuff I like and enjoying myself :)
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Sounds like a good plan to me :)
DeleteCreating new content is a good one. I like to try and do that too to keep my blog fresh. Good luck with these!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteGreat goals! Trying not to worry about numbers is a good one. Sometimes we can focus too much on that. :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteI would like to find new blogs too, and meet new bloggers and genres and recs, from them. And yes, numbers. I think one of resolutions should have been how to make sense of them, followed by how not to let them bother me, lol
ReplyDeleteSound like good goals to me.
DeleteGreat goals! I'm always on the look out for new bloggers to visit :) One of my favorite ways to find new people is in the Twitter follow trains.
ReplyDeleteYes, lately I've been doing that with Twitter too. It is a good way to find new people.
DeleteI love all you resolutions Barb! Especially to find new blogs to love! Let's spread the book blogger love Never enough :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard not to care about numbers, but it's also nice to not have to worry. Wishing you the best with all your goals!
ReplyDeleteI love number 3! I need to do this as well. Good luck on your resolutions!
