So I admit that I once again grabbed a few free books from Kindle. But I definitely see a trend this week in that they all had really interesting tag lines or blurbs. Just goes to prove sometimes it's all in the marketing. First up is "KYMIERA:Purity" which states "The story of a teenage girl who's turning into an monster - literally." Who could resist that? Then you have "Holes in the Ground" which teases "Some secrets have teeth." Finally, "Grand Theft Octo" has TENTACLES so I had to grab it since it was free.
I bought a physical book at Walmart. I had pretty much decided to grab it for my Kindle but when I saw it in person, I had to snatch it up - it's so pretty.
And last but not least, a few review copies. First up is "Read Herring Hunt" which is the second of the Mystery Bookshop Series. "The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle" is one I've been seeing around although I admit I am confused because in some countries it's "The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle." And finally, "True Storm" is the last in a series I'm really enjoying.
Oh and I almost forgot, I had requested this from my library and it just came in Thursday -
"Pride and Prometheus."
"Pride and Prometheus."
So what did you add to your stacks this week????
I've heard so many wonderful things about Children of Blood and Bone! I hope you enjoy it! I didn't get too many books this week, just one from a friend. It looks like you'll have your hands full all week!
ReplyDeleteDo You Dog-ear?
I don't know that I've heard anything bad about it but I don't have the best luck with overhyped books so I hope it's worth it!
DeleteAhhh, Children of Blood and Bone! Loved it -- and that cover. Whew. Gorgeous! I just found out about the 7 deaths of Evenlyn Hardcastle and I am half inclined to describe it as agatha christie meets time travel. It took me a minute to wrap my head around it.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really interesting. Plus I need a time travel book for a challenge so Evelyn will work!
DeleteOmgoodness Read Herring Hunt's cover is so adorable. Give it to me now! lol I have seen Children of Blood and Bone floating around and look forward to review.
ReplyDeleteI am giving the Mystery Bookshop series one more try. I liked a lot of the characters but the book in a book thing drove me nuts so we'll see if it gets better.
DeleteYAY!!! I can't wait to read your thoughts on Children of Blood and Bone!!
ReplyDeleteYou should pick it up too!
DeleteFor sure!! My friend Heather just finished it and she LOVED it!
DeleteThe Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle sounds so interesting! I really hope my library gets a copy at some point!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it comes out in the US until September but I could be wrong. To be honest, that whole book confused me!
DeleteEek, I was also accepted for a NetGalley copy of True Storm! I loved the first two books, I'm hoping the last one is going to be just as good.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a good series. I hope we both love it!
DeleteThe "Seven Deaths" is the UK version, interesting that you got that one. I need to order a copy of Children of Blood and Bone, I hear it's amazing 😁
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just don't understand Netgalley!
DeleteI want Children of Blood and Bone! <3
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous so yes, you do!
DeleteIt's always good to finish up a series, and I have seen alot of Children of Blood and Bone, I like the mystery book you have there, and that is neat how different countries label it differently, have a great weekend!!

Wow, Kobe huh?
DeleteGreat haul once again. Lots of interesting titles!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting The Farm too.
DeleteLooks like a great haul (and I just snagged a couple new freebies). I read a sneak peek of Children of Blood and Bone through Netgalley, and it was soooooooo good. I've gotta' get my hands on a copy of it now that it's live.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend. - Katie
Glad to hear that.
DeleteThose kindle freebies are real hard to resist. Covers are what get me. lol

Yes Aimee, it has to be the cover. And the naked hardback is pretty too!
DeleteHurray for free books!! I've had my eye on Children of Blood and Bone - SUCH a pretty book! I do need to see some more reviews for it before splurging though. I hope you love all your new reads!

ReplyDeleteMary #SundayRoundup #10
Thanks Mary.
DeleteOh! I just got the Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle as well! What an interesting cover. I purchased the trilogy of Illuminae after telling myself I wouldn't buy any more books! But I've kept myself away from Netgalley! Holes in the Ground sounds like it will be amazing. I love Iain Rob Wright. That guy can scare me into sleeping with the light on! Great haul! Have a great week reading.
ReplyDeleteI need to read some of his books then. I really hope I love the Illuminae books.
DeleteI enjoyed The Seven Deaths...and I hate when there are different titles that confuse me!
ReplyDeleteI am curious about Read Herring Hunt.

ReplyDeleteLots of people love the cover. Shows what good marketing can do.
DeleteI have been pretty tempted to Children of Blood and Bone but have resisted so far. The author was actually in town on Thursday and I had thought about going but I was exhausted after work and opted to stay home on my couch. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

ReplyDeleteyay you Children of Blood and Bone! I'm reading it nexr week hopefully .Can you believe I recommended my library to get it and they did AND THEY DIDN'T make the the first in line??? I WAS SO OFFENDED THEY MADE ME WAIT when they didn't even have the book until I told them! I guess only another bookworm would understand right? LOL
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for The Seven (and 1/2) Deaths. It's one of most anticipated books of the year. Children of Blood is certainly getting some good buzz. Hope you love them all!
