So I haven't ran away from home yet and it's looking like I might not have to use that option - although thanks to some of my followers who invited me to hide out with them. Mr. Barb's shoulder seems to be healing. Now don't get me wrong. It's not healing as fast as he would like, but it is getting some better which means he's not as annoying (love ya babe).
However, poor Booker T was under the weather earlier this week. We've been noticing he's a little slower the past few weeks but it came to a head Monday and he was clearly in pain. I don't know if he pulled something or what. A quick call to our vet and they had us some meds to pick up which thank heavens are working. Now he thinks he's super pup. The downside though is that he may have to stay on them but if it's what he needs then it will be done. He's our baby after all (well, one of them).
It seems like I spent all week trying to read "In the Valley of the Sun." I'm not in a slump but I think I'm overwhelmed with good book options. I have three on the go right now. I am reading "The Lost Sisters" which is 1.5 in the Folk of the Air series. Since I know I'm going to read "The Wicked King" I figured I might as well work in it. It's under 60 pages though so it's gonna be quick. I am also still working on "The Homecoming" and then there is "The River" which I want to get knocked out of the way. And oh, there's a fourth. I have read the first three chapters of "The Dark Game." I'm hopeless I tell ya.
I got some GREAT review books this week. I'm really excited about all of these. "Belinda Blake and the Snake in the Grass" and "Something Borrowed, Something Mewed" are cozy mysteries and I LOVE the Bethany Blake one so I can't wait. I've been seeing "The Luminous Dead" and "Wilder Girls" everywhere so I'm happy to jump on those bandwagons. Finally, I featured "Deception Cove" as a Waiting on Wednesday feature a few weeks back and of course "The Hummingbird Dagger" has Jack the Ripper vibe going on.
And last but not least I scored some good freebies this week. I've wanted "Arsenic and the Azaleas" since I spied that cute Basset hiding on the cover. My shark-loving self had to add "Mega" when I saw it and "Repo Girl" appealed to me because it's a mystery and cars - which I can't help but be drawn too since my dad and grandpa were both mechanics.
And finally, I want to send a shout out to Tammy of Books Bones & Buffy for sending me her extra copy of "Pariah." She knows how much I love this series. THANKS TAMMY!
So what did you add this week?
Yay, Pariah! It's funny, because I got an extra ARC copy of Pariah too and I've been trying to find a new home for it, but glad to see Tammy got you covered. I can't wait to start it.

Gee, did they accidentally send out duplicates. I am so glad to have one. I love this cover but it's shocking to see a blue/purple color scheme because the other two were in the green family. That sounds petty right?
DeleteI hope Mr. Barb continues to improve. Quickly :) Sorry to hear about Booker T's pain. My Cookie is 14 and I know she hurts. I can't give her pain pills because she is in kidney failure. I always tell my daughter that the dogs are my favorite kids so I do understand that they are your babies. Nice new reads this week. I hope you enjoy them all and have a great week!
ReplyDeletePoor Cookie. I hate that we sometimes can't help them as much as we want.
DeleteI'm glad that both of your patients are on the mend! I tried something by Jake Bible a while back and didn't much like it so I avoided his shark stuff despite that great cover!
ReplyDeleteYea the cover is great and since it was free, I can't complain. Now I don't know when I'll get to it - that's another story.
DeleteLook at that cover to The Luminous Dead. I'd grab the book if I saw it in the book store! Glad doggy is feeling better.:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Priscilla. And that cover does certainly rock!
DeleteOh no! I hope everyone feels better soon! And oh my gosh, I cannot wait for The Luminous Dead!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is on the mend.
DeleteGlad everyone seems to be on the mend at your house. We are finally gettng over jet lag. I finally saw 10 pm last night. I remember seeing The River around and thought it sounded interesting. Looking forward to your thoughts. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine trying to get back on track. I'm about 80 pages into The River and I'm not loving it but it is picking up.
DeleteYay for Pariah! I hope we both love it, Barb. I'm very tempted to request Wilder Girls, but I'm really behind with NetGalley books so I'm trying to be good😁
ReplyDeleteYou know you want to!
DeletePariah looks great. I'll check out that series. I'm reading The Dark Game right now and The Luminous Dead. And... a couple others. LOL
ReplyDeleteWe seem to be reading tons of the same books lately.
Delete"super pup" lol. Glad to hear he's feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteDeception Cove looks awesome.
Thanks Greg. I can't wait to read that one.
DeleteIt seems everyone's injured huh! Glad to hear they're getting good treatment too though. March has been tough it seems (for me certainly), I hope April will treat us all better :)
ReplyDeleteYes, hope April is much better for you too.
DeleteGreat idea to combine blog hops. I've done the same and I love Tynga's book reviews as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's so many good hops out and it's a great way to find new blogs.
DeleteGreat haul! I hope you enjoy your new books. :)

I was approved for Wilder Girls, and I'm really looking forward to it! I hope we both love it.

Me too. It does sound awesome.
DeleteHahahaha, I think my son would have wanted you to take him with you if you had run away last week. Every time something happens to hamper my mobility, after two or three weeks he'll have a melt down. I always tell him to set aside ten minutes before he goes anywhere to round up all the things I need. 😁
ReplyDeletePoor Booker T. It's good his meds are working. 👍✨
I think I have had a book every month since the beginning of the year that has taken extra time to get through and kept from getting to other books I intended get read, so I know how you feel. 😒
Have a wonderful week. 🌞
You're so lucky to have such an awesome son though. I'm sure a melt down is allowed from time to time. I joke about it but I think I was seriously close. It's so stressful when you have that urge to be the caretaker all the time.

DeleteSorry to hear your pup's been under the weather - and now you have super pup following his medication. Hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteMy pooch is 14 now - but he's still my baby.
Happy reading.
Lynn :D
They are ALWAYS our babies. And he is acting more super than ever.
DeleteOh the poor boys being a bit broken. Lots of good healing vibes. Glad the meds are helping super pup :)
ReplyDeleteI am too. Hope he can stay on them even though they are a bit pricey.
