Okay, so I'm technically running late - sue me. On second thought, don't. It would be extra stress I just don't need. I have a feeling that my poor pup Apollo may take the blame for a lot of things this year and running behind on the blog will be one of them. But he's cute, lovable and adorable so we'll give him a pass won't we guys?
So I'm not doing a ton of challenges this year. I like them and everything but I'm horrible at tracking them. I start out well and then fall off. So this year I'm only doing 3 long ones but will participate in ones that pop up that may last a week to a month because there's so many fun ones out there like that.
GOODREADS READING CHALLENGE
So this one is self explanatory. I set my goal at 100 this year. I figure it's a number I'm pretty confident at achieving.

WHAT AN ANIMAL 2020
1. Any book read for this challenge has to have an animal that plays a major role in the book (which could be fiction or non-fiction.) It also counts if a main character is (or turns into) an animal (define that however you'd like). In the past, books would qualify if an animal is in the title or on the cover, but that alone no longer qualifies. This challenge is for books related to animals and just because they are in the title or on the cover, doesn't mean it's about an animal.
These are the levels.
Level 1 - Read 6 books
Level 2 - Read 7-12
Level 3 - Read 13-20
Level 4 - Read 21 or more
2. The animal can be any type of animal (real or fictitious)--dog, cat, monkey, wolf, snake, insect, hedgehog, aardvark...dragon, mermaid, centaur, vampire, werewolf...you get the idea...
3. Challenge runs from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.
4. Books can be fiction or nonfiction.
5. You may make a list of books at the beginning of the challenge or you can just list them as you find them.
6. Book titles may be swapped out at anytime (assuming you made a list to begin with).
7. Crossovers with other challenges are permitted and encouraged.
8. You don't have to have a blog or write a review, but you can if you want to. If you don't have a blog, just post in the comment section that you'd like to join. You can post your books in there. Or you can sign up by joining my group on Goodreads for this challenge by clicking here.
9. Books can be in any format of your choice (print, audio, ebooks)
10. To sign up, use the Mister Linky below. There will be links for reviews and wrap posts later.
That's it! Enjoy and have fun!

I'm going to go for Level 3 on this one but wouldn't be surprised if I manage Level 4 so that may change.
So there you have it - better late than never.
Also, my They Call It Puppy Love Challenge will be going on during the month of February so look for that post soon.
I should be able to find a couple of apocalypse books for the Puppy Love Challenge! I'm sure you forgive Apollo for all the upheaval! A lot of us seem to be going for 100 books to get us started for the Goodreads Challenge!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd have a couple put back for February!
DeleteFun Challenges. The Library Love one is right up my alley...most of the books I read come from my public library. And I read a lot of books with animals in them, too. But...I just don't want to track any reading challenges this year. Or link up posts. Or even feel I have to write a review. I'm feeling lazy this year. :D But have fun with these!!!
ReplyDeleteI like to use my library as much as possible. I'm lucky to have access to 2 in my county and 1 across the river in another state. It gives me plenty, and often too much, to chose from.
DeleteGood luck with your challenge goals. I set my Goodreads goal to 150 books books.
ReplyDelete150! You rock!
DeleteI am so terrible at following through on challenges. I'm doing the GR one this year only because it's so easy that I don't ever have to think about it. I'm glad to hear little Apollo is keeping you busy. That is the best kind of busy :)
ReplyDeleteYou know Goodreads should be easy but I'm horrible at adding my reviews over there and then have to go and add a ton at once. Apollo is wonderful yet unlike any of our previous five. He's giving me a run for my money!
DeleteAhh, I'm sure your new pup is so gorgeous he will be forgiven almost immediately for anything.
ReplyDeleteI hardly take part in any challenges these days - other than 100 books a year on GR - I just seem to trail off, a bit like you said, I start strong and then.....
Good luck with yours
Lynn :D
Thanks a lot Lynn.
DeleteGood luck with the challenges! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg!
DeleteI like the sound of What an Animal, but I'm not really doing anything formal this year except for Goodreads. But maybe I'll read The Finders early during your Puppy Love challenge!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great read for February.
DeleteGood luck with your challenges!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThe Library Love challenge sounds great, I use my library almost exclusively!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you use it so much.
DeleteGood luck with the challenges, Barb!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicci.
DeleteGreat choices! I am doing many less challenges even though I have some goals. I am still trying to figure out how to work towards those goals. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
I'm sure you'll accomplish all your goals this year!
DeleteI'm so bad at tracking, too. For example, I always do your puppy love challenge and never post my results. Haha. But I love making sure I scout out a dog book. :)
ReplyDeleteYou need to - you just might win the GC!
DeleteThe library challenge sounds great :) I'm doing a no-buy bookish year so the library is going to be my best friend. Good luck on your challenges!
ReplyDeleteI could never do a no-buy! Good luck.
DeleteI love this! Good luck with your challenges!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica.
DeletePiper isn't quite as much work as she used to be now that she is 8 months old but I completely understand!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your challenges!
They grow up so fast. I can't believe she's that old now.
DeleteYou should have no problem with the What an Animal Lover ver Challenge. Ha ha! 😁
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to do the Library Lover's Challenge the last two years, but I asked her both years if my Hoopla borrows counted and she never answered me, so I never bothered signing up. I'll ask again this year and maybe she'll answer me. 😛
No, I manage What an Animal pretty easily each year. I always count my Hoopla books. I mean, without using my library I wouldn't have them.
DeleteI've only signed up for one challenge this year. I want to focus on some personal ones. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people have their own goals this year.
DeleteGood luck with your challenges!
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks for visiting Booker T's Farm.
DeleteI am impressed at anyone who takes on challenges like this. I know I would be able to get through them at all
ReplyDeleteI think you'd surprise yourself. It's all about the tracking.
Deletei am definitely doing library love this year
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I love my libraries so it's an easy one for me.
DeleteI'm right there with you on signing up for challenges, Barb. I've only signed up for the Goodreads challenge. The library challenge and animal challenge sound low-key so maybe I'll sign up for them, too, Barb! I love using the library and as you the animal challenge is right up my alley. I'm so glad you're doing the puppy love challenge again this year!
ReplyDeleteGotta love a low-key challenge. Look for mine up next week. It's still pretty low-key but I'm adding a way for people to get a few extra entries. I'm working on a fictional dog tag.
