Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
So the public has spoken - Cass is now a full-time contributor to Can't Wait Wednesday. That means each week you'll see two books here. Of course Cass is already lobbying for an increase in salary (at least he works for treats - and bandanas).
FROM GOODREADS: Quinn Maybrook just wants to make it until graduation. She might not make it to morning.
Quinn and her father moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs to find a fresh start. But ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half. On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can.
Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I've been seeing this book pop up different places and I'd love to get my hands on a review copy. Clowns have always scared me since I was a kid so I think that will make this one even more chilling to read. Plus, I wanna hear about Frendo clearing the town of bratty kids. Sounds like a great slasher!
CASSIUS'S PICK:
FROM GOODREADS: Zeus comes from a long line of heroic dogs, and he dreams of glory as a K9 commander. But he receives a much more dangerous assignment—middle school! And as all good service dogs know, the only way to get through hostile territory is by being invisible.
Zeus’s new human, Madden, is diabetic, and he wants to be invisible, too. That’s hard to do with a huge German Shepherd at his side to alert him when his blood sugar drops. And it’s even harder because Madden makes this noise called music that draws attention. Zeus’s mission becomes clear: he must destroy music.
While Zeus’s training prepared him for his most important job—keeping Madden safe—he discovers the human world is complicated. As Madden dreams of winning the state band competition and tries to reconnect with his mom, the lieutenant, Zeus must learn that, sometimes, you need to stand out to fulfill your duty.
WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT: First of all, Zeus sounds awesome. And I love to read about dogs who become heroes (I personally think we all are). I know this is a kid's book but Mom is making an effort to spend one on one time with me since my twerp brother came along and I think this would be perfect for us to read together.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK????
Clowns are freaky and combine that with cornfields! haha
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like the look of Clown in a Cornfield...it's got that old school vibe. But ugh, clowns...why does it have to be clowns, lol!

OMG, Zeus! That is an adorable blurb! I must admit, Clown in a Cornfield made me think of IT rightaway *shivers* I hope it's a good read nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteI think that clowns really do add an element of fear to a story as well. These both sound like great choices. I hope that you love them. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, a crazed clown killing all the teenagers does sound like a great slasher book!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing Clown in a Cornfield around too, in fact I think I've read a couple of reviews already and it sounds really good. And Zeus sounds good too! I love stories told through the dog's POV😁
ReplyDeleteYeah I've seen the clown book on various blogs-my one reservation is that I didn't much enjoy his Video Night book so I'm a little unsure whether to give this a go!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover of Zeus! And it sounds like a really good book. As always Cass makes good choices!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't afraid of clowns when I was kid, but I don't really like them now...lol. So I don't think I'll read Clown in a Cornfield. I don't even like the cover!
I find clowns creepy and that cover is creepy. I hope you like it when you get to read it.
ReplyDeletethey both look great to me. hope you enjoy them and i look forward to seeing what you think

Two great picks! I have been seeing that Clown book everywhere. It's making me want it even though I have enough books.
ReplyDeleteClowns in the Cornfield sounds all kinds of creepy. I'm not afraid of clowns, but my daughter and mother-in-law are scared of them.
ReplyDeleteZeus does sound like an awesome dog. 😊I hope you enjoy both of these! Happy Reading!
Clowns in a Corfield definitely sounds like it will be one terrifying read. I love it! Zeus's sounds like he would fun to read and follow. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy I never read any corn field Horror books or saw any movies like Children of the Corn or Jeepers Creepers when I was a kid because my aunt's house and my best friend's house were surrounded by cornfields. Ha ha. I guess I could read some now because I don't go out to the country anymore. 🌾🌾👹🌾🌾
ReplyDeleteThese both sound good.
ReplyDeleteThat first one looks really creepy! And of course I love the dog one. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Wednesday Post
This is the first time that I am seeing Clown in a Cornfield and I kind of feel like I need it in my life. I think the book Cass picked would be the perfect book to bond over :)
ReplyDeleteI really dislike clowns lol but I want Clown in a Cornfield for some reason lol
ReplyDeleteKettle Springs... what a wonderful name for a place - it sounds so cosy, but clearly that's not what is going on here! I hope you love it, Barb and Zeus just looks gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteClown in a Cornfield - double scary whammy. Wants.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Clowns and cornfields creep me out! Sounds perfect. LOL And I'd like to meet Zeus:)
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Clowns terrify me too so I don't even want to think about them in cornfields, lol. I hope you love both of these books. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the creepiest book cover I ever saw. Hope you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteClown in a Cornfield releases on my birthday! Probably not going to read it, though, because clowns have always terrified me.
ReplyDeleteI love the blurb for Zeus: Dog of Chaos! It sounds adorable.
ReplyDeleteWow! this is Amazing! Do you know your hidden name meaning ? Click here to find your hidden name meaning
ReplyDeleteI was immediately down when I saw Clowns in a Cornfield too. I've always found clowns creepy. I blame Tim Curray.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit - seeing Clown in the Cornfield popping up everywhere is making me want to read it, too.
ReplyDeleteOkay, clowns and creepy and cornfields are creepy, so this one will be double the creepiness.
