Weekly Reads (12/14/18)

So the boozy cupcakes were a success.  I didn't take a picture because by the time I made them, and then made homemade icing, which I've never done before, I was done.  Then Mr. Barb liked them so much he wanted another batch to take to work the following day.  Oh well, at least they were good huh?  If anyone wants the recipe, look up Betty Crocker boozy cupcakes or HERE.

I ended up having to go to a training for work this week as well which meant 1 hour 45 minutes driving each way and a 4 1/2 hour meeting.  It's just been one of those weeks.  And to top it off Saturday, for my Gpa's Christmas gift, I'm taking him 2 hours away to see his sister.  AND I think it's supposed to rain all day.  The things we do for those we love huh?

So I totally forgot to mention some movies we've watched lately.  We've watched "The Equalizer 2" which I liked a lot.  I do think the first one was better but this was a strong sequel.  We also watched "The Nun" and let me just say, it was kind of terrifying in places.  Now I will also admit I think the Nun actually reminds me of Marilyn Manson.  Look at the visual (plus I never imagined I'd ever have a reason to put Marilyn Manson on my blog!)  Also, I don't know what would be scarier, having the Nun chase you or having Marilyn Manson chase you.  What do you think?  Finally we watched "The Predator"" and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would.  I'd recommend all three of these is you like action and horror.

I have almost finished another Christmas book and since this IS a book blog, I better show you what I want to read this coming week.

So how was your week?  Are you ready for the holidays and what good books are you planning on reading?

  1. Oh is the Predator movie available for streaming/rent now? I've been waiting to watch it, maybe this weekend I finally can. And I've been meaning to check out Scream and Scream Again, I look forward to your thoughts!

    1. Yea, I think we paid full price so we'd own it but it should be going down this week or next. I really like the Predator franchise and it always makes me think of my Dad.

    1. Thanks Greg. When the Nun first appeared at the end of one of The Conjuring movies, my first thought was Marilyn Manson.

  5. The Nun does look like Marilyn Manson! That's freaky! I don't think I'd want either chasing me! I got some good reading done last night, DNFing one book and fully finishing another that I hadn't expected to like. Hope to read more today!

  6. That is a lot of driving for work plus taking your grandpa for a visit. The resemblance between Marilyn Manson and the Nun is crazy! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Yep, Gpa ended up not going because his sister's daughter was sick and it was raining all day so I'll take him after the holidays are over.

  8. Thanks for the link to the boozy cupcakes! 🍰

I have met Brian/Marilyn a few times and he's a nice guy, but... if he was in full stage make-up, yeah, I think it would be more than a bit scary to be chased by him! Ha ha! 😂

I love that you are taking your grandpa to see his sister. Those are the best kind of Christmas gifts. 🎄

I haven't put a full tree up in years, I just decorate a bare twig Yule branch, but I wanted to do a Harry Potter tree for a blog post this year, and now I remember why I don't decorate full Christmas trees. 😏

    Have a wonderful week! 🌞

    1. How cool that you've met him. My husband likes his music, which kind of always amazed me because it's so not my husband. He has talent and you gotta admire his willingness to be different. I heard he just filmed an episode of "Ride with Norman Reedus" that I want to check out.
