What's Happening...(04-5-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So I'm going to start out with a little story.  It was late one Sunday night and the entire pack - Mom, Dad, Cass and Booker T were snug in the bedroom.  Cass was sleeping at the foot of the bed and Booker was spread out on the floor.  Everyone was ALMOST asleep when a huge commotion was heard.  Mom and Dad jumped up so fast (didn't know we could move so fast) and flipped on all the lights in the room.  Cass came running to Mom while Booker stared at everyone smiling (and I swear he was laughing).  Apparently Cass fell out of bed on Booker.  Upon inspection, Booker T had blood on his head and back.  We looked all over and found where it was coming from - Cass' chin.  Apparently he hit it on the wall.  No worries, it was only about a 3 millimeter gash.  Everyone was cleaned up and Mom finally drifted off to sleep about 2 hours later - darn dogs!

So we've not been watching anything spectacular.  We did watch "The Walking Dead" season finale and it was okay.  I really wish they would end the series because I know we will not stop watching it but I don't think it was that good.  I mean, come on, the high point of that the show was Negan and he's a murderer and a rapist.  That's just sad when he had the best part of the finale.  "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2" started Friday so let's see how much of my weekend is spent watching it.

So something unique did happen on the blog.  Seems like since I started comment moderation, I get more spam than ever before.  Well this week I was contacted by an individual - let's call him Count Vlad (he used the name Count____ but I'm not inserting the name so I can protect the innocent - or myself).  Anyway, he offered to make me a vampire and went on and on about all the benefits/special powers I would receive.  Even left me an email to reach him and said it would not take long for the process. I am not amused.  Where was he when I was in high school and being a vampire was more appealing?

So here's what I'm going to be reading this weekend.  I really need to finish something!

I also received a few books for review.  I've actually won several books from Goodreads lately (my wins always come in threes but this time it came in 4).  I will share them next week as if the past is any indication, I won't win again for a year or so.  I love Kelley Armstrong but have to admit, most of what I've read by her has had supernatural elements. I'm interested to see what I think of her new thriller "Wherever She Goes."  "The Life of Death" is about a woman condemned to be Death for 500 who then falls in love.  Sounds odd so I'm all for it.  And finally, I was thrilled to get the latest horror from Michael Patrick Hicks, "The Resurrectionists."  I've been seeing this one around quite a bit.

So I hope you all have a wonderful week and tell me what you are planning on reading and watching this weekend.

  1. Ooo, that IS cool that you got The Resurrectionists! Haha, funny story about the sudden wake up in the middle of the night. Bet it scared everyone half to death before you all had a good laugh about it.

    1. It did but thankfully since no one was hurt, we could chuckle about it the next morning.

  3. Poor Cass! I'd love to win 4 books in a row on Goodreads, but I'm happy for my latest win, so I won't complain😁

    1. It's usually three in a row. Seriously, it's happened three different times - and there is always at least a year before I win anything again.

  4. Glad everyone was okay in the end. I couldn't imagine making room in the bed for one of my dogs. They take up too much space. I actually liked the second to last episode of Walking Dead. I was ready for Rick to leave and have actually liked this season a bit more. Of course, it is not like it was in the early days. Have a great week!

    1. When we got a new bed a few years back, we intentionally went up in size. It's been a lifesaver.

  5. Wow, I get spam, but definitely not as weird as that! And glad the doggies were all right, falling out of bed is not fun :D

  6. Weird spam. What will they think of next. LOL Glad everyone is okay after the excitement. I remember when my sister's doberman jumped off the bed and landed on my dog. Broke her leg and she had to have pins in it for weeks. They do the darnedest things.

  7. I'm glad the dogs are ok...and let me know how vampire life is if you decide to go that route. Lol. I need to read The Hunting Party. I own it and was SO excited, but then never picked it up. Happy reading!

    1. I'm in the middle of it now and so far so good. It's a different style of thriller and I'm kind of enjoying how it was done.

  9. Oh wow- that vampire story is interesting lol! And glad to hear that Cass was okay. that would have been startling!

I agree about TWD. I've always hated Negan and they seem intent on doing a redemption arc for him, and the sad thing I found myself starting to like him- a little- which means all the rest of the cast must be REALLY lackluster haha if THAT'S happening. I feel like the show could be so much more...

    1. Me too! The fact that I actually liked him in the finale kind of disturbed me!

  10. I am glad everyone was okay after the fall and that Cass wasn't too hurt. I bet it took awhile to get to sleep after that. I haven't seen this latest season of The Walking Dead. Maybe when it comes out on Netflix. That is too funny about the vampire spam. I wish mine was that exciting. I hope you enjoy your new books! I haven't had luck with Goodreads giveaways, and so haven't taken part in quite a while. Congratulations on your recent wins!

    Have a wonderful week, Barb.

  11. Your dog story made me laugh but I am sure that it was quite a surprise. I never started watching The Walking Dead but I have several coworkers that like it. Did your vampire friend say he sparkled in the sunlight ?lol . Enjoy your books and I look forward to your thoughts on The River

  12. Oh dear, a bit of doggy drama to deal with! I'm glad that everything is ok though but it must have given you a fright! OK the vampire weirdo thing is just strange! I wouldn't mind being immortal as I could tame my tbr but the blood drinking kind of puts me off!

  14. Poor Cass. Never a dull moment with dogs. 🐶✨

I saw one of the vampire guy's comments somewhere. I don't think it was on a book blog, though, I think it was on an article of some kind. Hahahahahaha. Priceless. 👹

I love the cover of The River! And yes, GR giveaway wins always seem to come in multiples, and then nothing for a good chunk of time. I was doing really well with the ebook wins when they first started doing them, but now people have caught on, and there seem to be just as many entries per book as on the physical ones. I knew a good thing wouldn't last. Ha! 😜

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞
