A Great Book When You're Having One of Those Days

TITLE: The Pursuit of Grouchiness (Oscar the Grouch's Guide to Life)
AUTHOR: Oscar the Grouch
PUBLISHER: Imprint
PUBLISHING DATE: April 9, 2019

FROM GOODREADS: In The Pursuit of Grouchiness, Oscar the Grouch teaches you how to lose friends and grouchily influence people.

There's no greater expert on celebrating a crummy day than Oscar the Grouch. After complaining about cheerfulness for decades from his trash can on Sesame Street, Oscar now shares his secrets for making sure you're as curmudgeonly as possible, all day, every day.

It's the perfect gift for your grouchy friends, your annoyingly upbeat friends who could stand to be a little grouchier, and even just yourself--because a bad day can always get worse.

Now get lost! And have a rotten day!

MY THOUGHTS:  So this is basically a cute book with various pictures and wonderful quotes for one of my favorite Sesame Street characters, Oscar the Grouch.  It took no time at all to get through this book but in the little time I've had it out from the library, I've already read through it twice.

I wanted to share some of the my favorite parts:

  • "Love the one you're with.  Just don't be with me.
  • " It's not you, it's me.  But it also might be you."
  • "This year it was great - we went from awful snowstorms to suffocating heat."

The book is divided into four parts:

  • Part 1: A few of my least favorite things
  • Part 2: Gouch life
  • Part 3: How to lose friends and alienate people
  • Part 4: Words to grouch by

So if you are looking for a few chuckles, love Oscar and want a quick read, definitely pick up "The Pursuit of Grouchiness."

    1. It was and it had a holographic cover which moved when the book moved so it's packaged well too.

  5. I used to love Oscar when I was a kid, and I imagined him having a whole world in that trash can lol- kinda like Snoopy's house!
