May Down For the Count

So I actually don't feel like I read a whole lot in May.  In retrospect, it wasn't that bad but I have two books which I started and didn't get finished which will carry over to June.  One was a library book which had to go back to Overdrive so I'm on the wait list again, and the second was "NOS4A2" which I wanted to start but did not make a priority.

So I read 8 books this month and started 2 additional one.  I am still making progress on my challenges but the one I actually co-host with Stormi, the Cloak & Dagger Challenge, is getting the least love for some reason.

The Cold is in Her Bones - Peternelle van Arsdale 4/5
(What an Animal, Library Lovers)

The Hiding Place - C.J. Tudor 2/5
(Cloak & Dagger)

Antarctic Ice Beast - Hunter Shea 3/5
(What an Animal)

I Hate Fairyland Vol. 2 - Skottie Young 4/5
(Library Lovers)

Ghost Mine - Hunter Shea 4/5

Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5) - Ilona Anrews 4/5
(Library Lovers, Dancing with Fantasy)

Biloxi - Mary Miller 3/5
(Library Lovers, What an Animal)

The Pursuit of Grouchiness: Oscar the Grouch's Guide to Life 4/5
(Library Lovers)

STARTED BUT NOT FINISHED:

NOS4A2 - Joe Hill
Dreaming Darkly - Caitlin Kittridge

So once again I only have one 5/5 read and that's because of the giant attack poodle known as Grendel.  I did have quite a few 4/5 which is always great and I honestly think this year I have been a little stingier on handing out 5/5.

TOTAL PAGE COUNT: 2261

So how was your April???

    1. Last year I had more. I think it's my rating system that has changed.

  4. I always feel like I read a lot but when I go back to count at the end of the month I'm always a little disappointed in myself. 7 seems to be my magic number, but I swear one of these days it's going to be 8!

    1. Lately 8 seems to be my number. The key is adding in some graphic novels.

  5. I am so stingy with my fives now. It really has to be a book that resonates with me and lingers and there aren't too many that are to do that. N0S4A2 the tv version was pretty good but it's been awhile since I've read the book so I can't vouch for accuracy to the source but it seems true so far. I hope you get time to read it soon.

    1. I don't think they really messed anything up but they really twisted Maggie's story. I'm hoping I can finish the book soon.

  6. It looks like most of the books you did finish were good ones. I read less in May too and now I have to buckle down and get to those I've neglected.

  7. 8 is a good number of books - pity only one 5/5 but I'm starting to think that the more I read the less likely I am to give a full 5*s.
