Sci-Fi Summer Readathon Wrap Up

So I participated in the Sc-Fi Summer Readathon for the first time this year which was perfect because one of my resolutions was to read more science fiction.  I managed to read two books which count and although the reviews won't be up until later, I decided to give you a sneak peek.

First up was "To Kill a Kingdom" by Alexandra Christo.  This was a very dark book which is one reason I was excited to pick it up.  I liked it okay, but have to admit I never really felt too attached to the two main characters.  I liked the side characters much more.

Then there was "Jurassic Florida" by Hunter Shea.  Shea is one of my favorite horror authors and I've read quite a few of his books.  This one was tons of fun and I loved it.

Even though I didn't read it during the readathon, I finally got my review for "Outpost" up last week as well as featuring its sequel on Can't Wait Wednesday.  You can find the posts HERE and HERE.  Check them out because I think this sci-fi series needs more love and is a great place for newbies like me to start.

Thanks to Seasons of Reading for hosting!

Sci-Fi Summer Readathon

So this year I vowed to read some science this year and have been making progress.  So after doing the SeasonsReading Horror Readathon and seeing they were doing this 2 week one, I couldn't resist.  So here's the rules:

Details:
  • Read-a-Thon dates: Friday, June 1 at 12:00am CDT until Thursday, June 14 at 11:59pm CDT (adjust your time zone accordingly...there's a time zone converter in the sidebar menu). We do a different day configuration (rather than starting on a Monday and ending on a Sunday) to go along with the quirkiness of science fiction. 👽
  • Since science fiction is a very specific genre, this will be strictly reading science fiction during the event. However, since fantasy is so closely related to the genre (often grouped together), if you feel more comfortable reading fantasy, that is also fine.
  • to check in on social media, we'll use our new hashtag #SciFiJune
  • as usual, you do not have to have a blog to participate...feel free to link up and check in from Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, etc. These days, it seems most of our activity goes on in our Facebook group which I love. We have a great community over there...and it's not just during readathons. Everyone should feel free to post in there any time.
  • As always, please refer to the Guidelines page if you have any questions, or you can contact me via the contact me tab (both are in the sidebar menu).
  • Grab a button! You can get it from the sidebar using the handy grab code, or save the image to your computer to share.
