Stacking the Shelves (170)/Sunday Post

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews. And it now has a new co-host where individuals can link up as well - Marlene from Reading Reality.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.  I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted by Kimberly@Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

So Mr. Barb had Friday off because he worked last weekend so he picked me up for lunch and also bought me a new doggy book.  I collect W. Bruce Cameron books and his newest MG one just came out.  I can't wait to add it to my shelves.

About a month ago, I requested a few books from my library.  They make it really simple because if they don't have them, they have a form you can fill out online.  Well, they ended up purchasing new copies of all three and of course, since I requested them, I get them first.  I picked them up Thursday - "Neverworld Wake," "Bring Me Their Hearts," and "We Are Where the Nightmares Go," which I've heard awesome things about.

From Netgalley I got a review copy of "The Mansion" which I can't wait to read and which is putting all my other reads this weekend at risk.

And I want to thank Alan Baxter for sending me a copy of "Manifest Recall."  It's a shorter dark noir story and I am super excited to dive in.

So what did you guys add to your shelves this week?  Have you read any of these?

  1. I just made my first purchase request to my local library, and I'm still waiting to hear back. Enjoy your new reads!

    1. Sometimes mine is fast and sometimes slower. However, I'm usually pretty lucky and they order what I request. It really is an awesome library.

  2. Our library made us pay for every book request we made so I never did it! When I was last there about 8 years ago it was about $2 per book, whether they managed to get it for you or not. We also paid each year for a library ticket and paid more to borrow from the audio dept. I dread to think the costs now! It makes more sense for me to buy them, then sell, trade or donate the ones I don't like! I do wish we had a better library though-I feel I'm missing out not having a decent one!

    1. Wow, I think you're library sucks. I wouldn't use it very often either.

  3. I have not read any of those but The Mansion looks awesome and creepy. I see the Cameron books in stores and the covers are so adorable. I need to buy those for my nieces. I have read his adult books and loved them even though they make me bawl like a baby.

  4. Your library books are calling to me, especially Bring Me Their Hearts. I saw The Mansion on NetGalley but I'm hesitating pushing the request button because I'm so behind with NG reviews. I'm sure I'll cave at some point!

    1. I couldn't resist. I had to see what the author does with a haunted house concept.

  6. I am curious about Bring Me Their Heart, so will be curious about your review. Glad the only one on here I really wanted I already have so I don't have to run off to NG and grab it...lol. :)

  7. I love borrowing from the library now that I have that Libby (Overdrive) app. They were coming really quickly for a while, so I put some on hold that will take longer...just so I can also read from my shelves.

Enjoy your books and your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. I tend to borrow more physical copies from the library although we also have Overdrive and Hoopla. I use Hoopla mainly for comics and graphic novels.

  9. Your books look great. I've been borrowing ebooks from my library and it's so easy. The hold lists go quickly too. Hope you have a great week.

  11. I really dig the over of We Are Where the Nightmares Go. Also the cover of The Mansion, but I hopped over to Goodreads and the premise was entirely not what I was expecting. Perhaps I will wait for your review instead. Happy Reading!

  14. Aww... I love that your hubs bought you the dog book. 🐶

I won the movie tie-in edition of The Darkest Minds and some swag that arrived this week. I didn't have time to look at any online deals because I was babysitting a lot, so there were zero ebooks this week for me. Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  15. Neverworld Wake and Bring Me Their Hearts both sound interesting! It's frustrating when you're on hold for a book at the library for what feels like an eternity. I hope you enjoy these!

  16. I really hope you enjoy We Are Where the Nightmares Go!! And I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on Neverworld Wake. I loved Night Film but I've been a bit skeptical about her jumping to YA.

  20. Bring Me Their Hearts is a book that I'll probably read eventually. I keep hearing about it, and it sounds good.

This week I borrowed Summer Days and Summer Nights from the library (saw it on a couple TTT posts), found some really good sales for The Poppy War, Starfish, and Isle of Blood and Stone (so I bought them), got Meet Clara Andrews for free, and got ARCs for George Whitefield: Evangelist for God and Empire, and Harbor Me. So I got quite a few books this week.

  24. Our library has a system like that where you can 'wishlist' books they don't carry and then get them first if they decide to get them. I love it!

  26. Barb I could look at the cover of Max's story and just smile and smile!

  27. That is so nice that your husband bought you a book. My husband wouldn't mind if I bought something for myself but he would never surprise me like that. I have Bring Me Their Hearts to read. I was declined for The Mansion so I will have to wait for the library for that one. Enjoy your new books!
