Can't Wait Wednesday (191)

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

FROM GOODREADS:  Five friends cursed. Five deadly fates. Five nights of retribución.

If Lupe Dávila and Javier Utierre can survive each other’s company, together they can solve a series of grisly murders sweeping though Puerto Rico. But the clues lead them out of the real world and into the realm of myths and legends. And if they want to catch the killer, they'll have to step into the shadows to see what's lurking there—murderer, or monster?

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  First of all, I really want to know more about that creature on the cover.  Also, I haven't read a lot of books set in Puerto Rico.  This is being released from Tor which is one of my favorite publishers so I'm hoping that's a good sign too!

WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK????

  1. It sounds interesting. My concern is the 'survive each others company' bit as it sounds like bickering angst which is not my favourite thing! I'm curious about the monster though and I haven't read anything set in the country.

    1. Yea, I bet there will be a couple of characters I want to die but sometimes, that's part of the fun. Okay, rereading that sentence makes me sounds somewhat unstable :)

  2. Oooh, I am with you -- I haven't read a book based in Puerto Rico, and the added bonus of creatures of myth and legends.

    1. I'm not sure. I'm torn between a jellyfish with legs or a giant bug.

  6. I am kind of curious about this one and that monster almost looks like a weird Jellyfish from the shape and with the hanging arm things. :)

  8. That is a creepy cover- almost gives me a stranger Things vibe, with how huge the creature is. And set in Puerto Rico- nice!

  20. Interesting choice, Barb! :) :)

You know how I feel about monsters, but this book does have two things I haven't encountered in a novel yet -- it takes place in Puerto Rico (I think this is a first), and the murders must be solved by going to the mythical world! WOW. My curiosity is piqued! But....I will get this one from the library!

Thanks for sharing!! :) :) Also, I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Christmas and New Year!! And thanks for commenting on my own CWW post!! HUGS TO YOU AND THOSE LOVABLE PUPS, AND "WOOF, WOOF" TO THEM!!!! Looking forward to that buddy read!! "ARF!!" <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)

P.S. Sorry for the late comment back..... :(

  21. I think it might be "tame" enough for you. At least it doesn't sound like it's full of slashers and blood. I'm looking forward to starting our read too! We're getting closer!
