What's Happening on The Farm (01-19-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So this is going up a tad bit later than normal and I have no real reason other than I didn't feel like sitting down at the computer for very long.  We are right on the border of the massive snowstorm headed toward the East and I've kind of been holding my breath that it doesn't shift.  It's bad enough we'll be having single digit temps Sunday night.

And on,  my other excuse.  Despite having 4 books I HAVE to finish before January ends, I got sucked down the hole known as "The Punisher Season 2."  We're six episodes in which leave 7 more to go.  I do think Season 1 was better, but I'm enjoying this one too.  Oh and we watched the first episode of "The Passage."  All I can say is I think they crammed 200 pages of the book into 1 hour.  It wasn't bad but it might be best to think of them as 2 separate things - the book and the show. I have been reading some this weekend and have a holiday Monday so hopefully I can do some catching up on that aspect.  Here's the books I've got going right now.

So now onto what I like to refer to as THE HORRIFIC HAUL.  I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this one.  First, from Flame Tree Press I received "The Devil's Equinox," "Chop Shop," and "Stoker's Wilde."

Then Stormi sent me "Abominable" for my birthday. It looks and sounds awesome and she totally surprised me as I had never even heard of this one!

And finally, the freebie grab of the week I want to showcase is "The Strangeness that is Wales."  This book showcases legends and ghosts of Wales so when I saw it (as well as the cute dog on the cover) I couldn't resist.

So there you have it.  What did you add to your shelves and if you are snowed in, how are you passing the time?

  1. Oooh, I don't think I knew there was a Punisher season 2. I'm just now finally finishing up season 3 of Daredevil. Even though it's full of overused tropes and they do a lot to ruin the characters, I'm sad it was cancelled.

    1. I never watched Daredevil but hate that Netflix is getting rid of the Marvel stuff. I'm still not over the fact that they canceled Luke Cage.

  2. I am sUPER curious about The Passage and am strongly considering adding it to my already (too long lol) queue of shows!

    1. My husband thinks it's slow. But he has little patience for all the intro and development in the first episodes of any new series. I watched the second one last night - not bad.

  3. I hope the snow storm isn’t too bad. I’m currently buried in snow. I’ve been making excuses not to read, too. Movies have been more interesting lately.

    1. We didn't get much snow but had two days of freezing temps. I think on the whole we got lucky and I shouldn't complain, but what's the fun in that?

  4. I need to check out The Passage, even if they did manage to cram a whole lot of book into one episode.

  5. You weren't kidding about your horror haul, lol! New additions look great, I'm especially intrigued by Stoker's Wilde - the title's awesome!

    1. I love that title too and it makes the old me - who used to be obsessed with anything Dracula - very happy.

  6. I look forward to your thoughts on The Strangeness That is Wales! I love the cover. We had some snow this weekend and it is bitter cold so I have been reading and napping all weekend. It has been wonderful.

  8. We missed the snow storm, but now we have the single digit temps and it feels well below 0. Fortunately, I'm inside and have no reason to go out right now :) I have The Passage on my DVR. I haven't had a chance to watch. I didn't read the book so I have nothing to compare it to. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Glad you missed the snow. We didn't get much of it, just the temps. I actually think I'd like The Passage show more if I wasn't reading the book too.

  9. We got some darn cold temps here over the weekend but its warming up now. Binging a show is a good excuse too. LOL I've been watching Dexter again from the beginning. Abominable looks good. I'll have to check that one out.

    1. We're getting warmer too. I've never watched Dexter but I know Julia Styles is in one season of it at least and I have always liked her. Maybe I'll binge it someday.

  12. I hope you didn't get too much snow. I completely understand not wanting to sit down at the computer. I find that looking at TV shows or movies and books as separate things is the best way to go about it. There are always things that are different. Have a great week!

  13. I picked up The Strangeness that is Wales, too! One of my uncles married a Welsh woman and I loved her more than anything, and I love reading about Wales because of her. 💜

We didn't get as much snow as they thought, but it was still bad enough to have a travel ban on MLK day. The temps though. 😱 We had a -35° wind chill on Monday. I was so happy my son didn't have to walk to work and back. 👍✨

I hope you are staying warm and toasty will your guy gang and having a good week. 🌞

    1. -35 degrees! I would die! My poor pups couldn't even go outside to use the bathroom if that was the case. We are all staying warm and have even seen the sun some this week.

  14. oh YAY for Kate Daniels; it takes a bit to get going but it's the most amazing series ever. I got the Passage on audio for free so I'll listen to that at some point. I don't watch much tv. I have been trying to work my way through a the Marvel peeps on Netflix but I'm only up to Daredevil S2 and in all of 2018 I'm only about halfway. So about 8 episodes in 12 months? At least I know who the Punisher is. :)

Our weather shifts every 4-5 days. We just had days in the 30s and nights in the teens, sunny and cold. Now today it is 60 and will start raining soon.

Enjoy your reads! Have a good week! Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. My friend told me it was over 40 hours long. Audiobooks tend to put me to sleep which is why I don't listen to that format much - almost not at all. I can't imagine The Passage in audiobook.

  15. It's great to be able to comment again! Being offline has been such a pain when I was busy doing stuff! We had to stop working on the kitchen as my dad injured his shoulder but he's on the mend now!
