TTT - Books I Should Have Read by Now!

The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish they  handed over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE.  Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.

This week's topic is books on our summer TBRs.  Well, I do a monthly TBR post, plus last week was an anticipated release post so I really wanted to try and not post the same books over and over.  So instead, I'm sharing books I SHOULD have read by now!

NOS4A2 - Joe Hill.  I'm about 500 pages in but it keeps getting pushed aside for other books.  I am really enjoying it though.

Titanshade - Dan Stout.  I really have no excuse.

The Stand - Stephen King.  Can you believe I've never read this one?  Yep, me either.  I think I committed to Stormi to read this one in November or December.  Can't quite remember.

Noir - Christopher Moore.  I really love this author and think I've even checked this out from my library on two occasions.

A Dog's Purpose - W. Bruce Cameron.  In my defense, I know why I haven't read this one yet. I don't want to start sobbing uncontrollably!

Downward Dog - Katherine Hayton.  Seriously, I smile every time I see this cover so I just need to pick it up already. It's a cozy mystery so it should go pretty fast!

Megalodon in Paradise - Hunter Shea.  I always enjoy Shea's book and this one is screaming - read me during the summer.  So why didn't I read it LAST summer???

HEX - Thomas Olde Heuvelt. I was so excited for this book that I had to order a copy from the UK before it even reached the US.  So why does it sit unread?

Inspection - Josh Malerman.  I have had this from the library for 6 weeks and still haven't picked it up.

Borrowing of Bones - Paula Munier.  I bought this for my Kindle with a gift certificate I won last year so I don't know why I haven't read it yet.  And even though I know it's a dog, does anyone else see a cougar when they look at the cover?

So there you have it.  I guess I need to get reading!

  2. I am seeing the ad for the tv series based on Joe Hill's title and I am freaked out by Zahary Quinto and intrigued at the same time. And Titan shade! Gosh yes, I haven't got to that one yet either. Sighs. I am still trying to catch up with stuff after my holiday and am just not lol

    1. He is doing a great job. I'm not thrilled with tv show but it's entertaining at least.

  3. Oh yes, I feel this post. So many books that I've rushed out to buy/order and they now remain unread. It's the dilemma of own books vs review books for me and even though I try to cut down requests I'm still not really getting the balance right. I'm just book greedy I think.

  4. The Downward Dog cover makes me giggle. My good friend has bulldogs. Hope you get a chance to read your books! Summer is flying by isn't it?

    1. I love that cover. I'd love to have a bulldog but I know they have such health issues that I'm a tad hesitant.

  5. Haha, there always seems to be too many books, not enough time!

  6. Hex! I actually met the author and I have a signed copy, so I have NO excuse not to read it. Except lack of time!

    1. Did you know he has a new one coming out? It's called Echo but for the life of me, I can't find a date for the translation so it might be years down the road.

  8. The Stand was good. I'm surprised you haven't read A Dog's Purpose, but I can understand if you don't want to turn on the tears.

I get that whole thing about pushing back a book for other books. Priory of the Orange Tree took a long time for me to read because it's so long and there were other books I needed to read.

    1. I have the whole Dog's Purpose series and I will read it one day. Long books don't intimidate me but I know how much a strain they put on my other reading so that's usually my hold up.

  9. Ha-I have a copy of Noir checked out from my library and it's been sitting on the shelf as I renew it repeatedly....hopefully ONE of us will get to it soon!

  10. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't read The Stand, either, even though I've owned it for pretty close to eternity. A Dog's Purpose was great, but oh yeah, for sure a tear-jerker. I've enjoyed the whole series, though. Happy reading!

    Here's my TTT post.

  11. I've managed to read a few of these, like The Stand, Megalodon in Paradise, and A Borrowing of Bones...but there are many, many more on my list that I need to read....someday. ;D

    1. I think the show captures the essence of the book but a lot of things are different, out of place, etc. I need to read the last 200 pages but I know already I like the book better. The show is entertaining though.

  15. OMG, I hope you love The Stand. It's something I read slowly during the summer many years ago. It's slow-paced at times, but the ending is sooo worth the wait.

The miniseries from the 80s (or early 90s?) was not my favourite, though.

  19. Oh my goodness, same goes for me and Titanshade. I WILL get to it before the end of summer, that is my goal. I do have much love for Hex though, highly recommended!
