What's Happening...(08-10-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So we didn't watch any movies this week.  I don't know if I mentioned we watched "The Curse of La Llorona" but if I didn't, we did.  It was okay but nothing spectacular.  I wonder if I missed that it was part of "The Conjuring" universe because I was a tad surprised when Annabelle made an appearance.

Cass is doing well.  He has been averaging about 2 walks a day the past few weeks.  I've been getting up a tad early so I can walk him before work while it's cooler. Plus, even though I'm able to check on him at lunch, I know he's lonely being home with just the TV all day - yep, we leave it on for him.

Football season has started - at least pre-season.  I really do love football but I also get a lot of reading done while it's on because I multi-task so it's a win/win all around.  I managed to finish some books this past week and also found a new favorite.  This coming week here's what's on the stack:

Also, it seems that arcs had slowed down a bit but then approvals came in all at once.  I've gotta have my dog selections so I'm thrilled about "Alaskan Catch" and "Incredibull Stella."  You know how I'm obsessed with Jack the Ripper so "Who Was Jack the Ripper" should be interesting.  Finally Flame Tree Press sent me "We Are Monsters" and "Snowball."  Finally, a new cozy mystery series arrived with "Christmas Cow Bells."  Tell me you don't love that cover.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers!

So how was your week? Watch or read anything exciting?

  2. Sport can be useful to have on in the background while reading! I used to do that a lot. I'm hoping for better quality in my reads this week!

    1. I seem to have a thing for cows - and I think baby calves are just so adorable.

  4. Ooh I fancy that Ripper book - anything about the Ripper and I'm intrigued and that cow cover just made me laugh.
I feel you as well leaving Cass alone - we felt so bad after Jack passed away that we basically spoilt Dude - he was very rarely on his own but that was pure luck really because of people having different schedules.

    1. I'm usually able to check on him at lunch, and then I walk him after work while Mr. Barb heads to the gym on most days. He is getting rather spoiled. He loves bandanas and they are so cheap that he is getting quite a collection. They make him happy!

    1. I've seen lots of Christmas books and while there are a few I'd like to read, I can't bring myself to do it until after Halloween is over - maybe even Thanksgiving.

  7. Ha. We grabbed some of the same books this week! Does Cass use the remote? Just wondering if you come home and find the TV on a different channel. LOL

    1. No, he doesn't usually but the other day he did something on the end table and ended up turning on our Fire stick!

  8. Hmm. I didn't have a clue La Llorona was part of the Conjuring. The myth is pretty interesting. I was looking into it while preparing a unit last year. Happy reading!

  9. I’ve been getting up super early to walk my dog too. If it’s hot, she’ll lay down in the shade and not move. Then I’m stuck out in the heat because she’s too big for me to lift. I hope you’re having a good week!

    1. Oh no. I can't imagine. Cass has some sport water bottles and I always carry one with him and he drinks out of them. Everyone in the neighborhood knows that he is one of the most spoiled dogs ever.

  10. Give Cass a hug from me. 🐾✨

Another Atomic Frenchie! I love those covers. 📚

Just say no to snow... even on book covers. 😆

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  11. I almost requested Incredibull Stella because I have my own Stella but didn't. I hope it is a good one for you. I bet that Cass appreciates all of the extra attention. Looks like you picked up some great books. Have a great week!

  12. I got the big haul last week too. I've been mostly gone between moving and Book Bonanza but this week should be more normal. Finally. Happy reading!
