What's Happening (06-14-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

Well, it's kind of been an uneventful week at The Farm and hey, I'll take it.  I've tried to stay away from the news a lot as it was really starting to effect my outlook on life.  I am still working part-time hours at home but my boss is confident we will get the all-clear to return in a few more weeks.  Oh well, the boys like having me at home.

Our state did decide to go ahead and test all staff and inmates at the prisons and jails so now I feel a little better about the environment Mr. Barb is working in on a daily basis.  We do both realize COVID-19 is still out there though and are taking all necessary precautions.

Movie and TV wise it hasn't been an extremely stellar week.  We did watch the entire Netflix series Reality Z and if you like zombie shows, then this is the one for you.  It's Brazilian and sometimes I think foreign horror films are scarier and done better.  Am I the only one?

I've been on a real thriller kick all year it seems and read a really two really good ones this week (look for me review soon).  Here's what I'm working on reading right now.

I also got several books for review and am excited for them all. Many thanks to Flame Tree Press for some great horror additions!

So there you have it.  I hope you all are having a great weekend and stay safe out there!

  1. I got the email about Flame Tree books but haven't went and checked them out yet. Part of me is curious about the John Everson just by the looks of it but I didn't like the other one I read by him so I am nervous...lol. :)

  2. I got approved for Voodoo Heart on NetGalley, I was pretty excited! And I've been tempted to request The Nesting but haven't yet. I may go back and request it but my NetGalley is out of control so I need to be careful🤪 I'm glad to hear about the prison testing. That's what we need to do, more testing for EVERYONE, but sadly I don't see it happening everywhere.

  3. I agree with you completely on foreign horror films. I love seeing that content that we just don't have here. I find them scarier, too.

  4. Too many people are just ignoring COVID! We are continuing to be extremely cautious and stay home as much as possible, wear masks, etc. I am also on a thriller / mystery binge this year. The weather has been gorgeous this weekend but now, the 5 days of rain is coming.

    Happy reading and stay well!

  6. I've sorta been watching Riverdale but kinda lackluster, but I see that Marcella S3 hit Netflix today so I have something to watch. :) And I hear you on the news. It can be pretty depressing, I'll check in just enough to stay informed and then I'm out.

    Take care this week.

  7. Ooh The Nesting! I'm so curious about that one, I'm sure at some point I will cave and request a review copy too :P

  8. Glad they did testing at the prison and you can rest easier now. Some nursing homes were Covid incubators with close quarters like that. Every day Baz comes home I ask him if anyone has gotten sick at work. So far so good! We both decided we are going to wear masks past the lifting of the restrictions for at least a month or two, so I'm going to order some manufactured masks. The masks I made are starting to fall apart. Ha Ha. 😋

I love the cover of Yellow Jessamine and This is My America looks good. It also sounds familiar. I might already have it shelved on Goodreads, but I'll check. 👍✨

Have a wonderful new week. 💜

  9. I'm pleased that the prison has had a full check for the virus-I hope that makes you both feel a lot better. You wonder why it has taken this long though the same is happening in Scotland. Testing is so slow to get going here and the Scottish government needs to get a grip.

Ooh my dad likes foreign horror so I might search out that zombie series for him!
