August 2018 Monthly Wrap Up

So most of August was spent reading title related to dogs for  La La in the Library and  Jo's Book Blog #DogDaysOfSummer challenge.  It was so much fun and I'm sure it's most of the reason why I managed to read so much.  Let's take a look at the titles!

Manifest Recall: Alan Baxter 4/5
Atomic Frenchie: Tom Sniegoski & Tom McWeeney 5/5
Rattus New Yorkus: Hunter Shea 5/5
Action Lab: Vito Delsante 5/5
Creature: Hunter Shea 5/5
Peanuts - Where Beagles Dare: James Cooper 4/5
Drinking from the Trough: Mary Carlson 3/5
City Dog: Alison Pace 4/5
Hitting the Books: Jenn McKinlay 5/5
Dog Man: Dave Pilkey 3/5
Isosceles' Day: Kevin J. Meehan 5/5
Neverworld Wake: Marisha Pessl 4/5
The Mouth in the Dark: Tim Waggoner 4/5

So overall I read 13 things and really, it would be hard to pick a favorite this month.  However, since nothing rated lower than a 3/5, I consider the month a rocking success.

As part of the Dog Days Challenge, Jo is donating a dollar for every book read to her local charity.  I think this is an awesome idea and am proud to say, I read 9 books featuring dogs.  "Hitting the Books" is a cozy where the MC has a loyal dog who often saves her life and Buttons the beagle is very prominent in "Creature" so I'm counting both of them.

How was your reading in August?

  3. I’m glad your dog books were a success! I’d like to read more animal books, but I’m extremely picky about them. It’s hard to find ones I like.

    1. I had to rule out any that looked sad after learning Booker T had to have surgery. All is good now though and there are so many more waiting to be read.
