Buried by Books #9

It's time for another addition of what books, sometimes weird and out-of-norm for the blog, I've put on hold with Libby or added to my KU possibility list.  One of my resolutions in 2026 is to get my money out of KU each month so who knows, you might see some of these reviewed in the new year! Oh, and I also have a Hoopla Wish List (TBR) going of sorts so I'm going to break today's posts into three categories.

LIBBY

The Dollmakers: Lynn Buchanan - I feel like this has been on my list forever, but I am still really interested in it.

Dreams: The Many Lives of Fleetwood Mac: Mark Blake - I ADORE Stevie Nicks and will get to this sometime.  I may even add the hard copy to my Christmas list.

Greenteeth: Molly O'Neill - I've seen some wonderful reviews of this one and it sound just odd enough to work for me.

HOOPLA

The Inheritance (Breach Wars #1): Ilona Andrews - I love this author duo and this one is fairly new. Doesn't hurt that there is an animal sidekick in the form of a German Shepard named Bear.

Playlist of the Damned: Edited by Jess Landry - A dark and weird anthology focusing on music and horror. Say no more.

Serial Killer Support Group: Saratoga Schaefer - I still need to read Grady Hendrix's take on this as well.

KINDLE UNLIMITED

Her Solstice Vampire: Monica Corwin - This one doesn't release until Christmas day but who knows, maybe I will want some vampires to spice up my Christmas.

The Christmas Leprechaun: Tiffany Royster - Another holiday horror.

Wormfood: Jeff Jacobson - There are no words (and apparently Goodreads agrees because they have no synopsis).

Have you read any of these?  Where would you start?

Buried by Books #8

Gee it's been a while since I've done one of these. I had to go all the way back to February to find my last feature. If you've not seen one before, this is where I showcase books, sometimes weird and out-of-character, which I have added to my Libby holds request on my Kindle Unlimited TBR list.  Today I'm sharing some recent Kindle Unlimited Finds.  I am also including the Goodreads links if you actually want to learn more about the books and not just what caught my attention.

Hallow:
C.M. Lacosta - I'm a bit obsessed with Sleepy Hollow stuff so this immediately caught my attention.  It may actually be Sleepy Hollow smut though so only time will tell.

Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow: Victoria Walter - Reminds me of Stars Hollow and Gilmore Girls.

Espresso Yourself: Lara McKenzie - It's been a while since I read a cozy mystery and look at that adorable bat in the coffee!

The Village: Krissy Webb - Saw this one somewhere and actually bothered to read the synopsis which sounded pretty good.  It's a thriller, I remember that much.

Bunny Foo-Foo Trilogy: E.V. Dean - This cover screams to my horror-loving dark heart.

Neverthorn: Shannon Mayer - A COMPLETE cover add.  I want to visit there.

Have you by chance read any of these?  Which one should I pick up first?

Buried by Books #8

Welcome to another edition where share why I'm feeling overwhelmed and "buried" by books.  Today, instead of sharing Libby holds and KU want-to-read lists, I'm actually sharing three recent physical books I placed on hold at my local library and just picked up a few days ago.  I'm planning on making these three a priority in March - at least I hope to.

Our Winter Monster: Dennis Mahoney - I've wanted to read this one since I first heard of it.  I already gave the first few chapters a try and they sucked me right in.  I only put it down due to other priorities in February so I can't wait to pick it up again.

Mask of the Deer Woman: Laurie L. Dove - I love Indigenous tales and this will be a perfect addition to my March reads where I plan on reading The Buffalo Hunter Hunter.

Mirror Lake (Shady Hollow #3): Juneau Black - I feel in love with this quirky cozy mystery series last summer, or maybe even the summer before.  All the characters are animals and it's hard to put into words how much I love it but come on, animals solving mysteries!

Have you read any of these?  If so, let me know if you've enjoyed them.

Buried by Books #6

It's time for another wacky edition of my series where I show you books I've recently put on hold at my library or through Libby.  I've expanded to books I've added to my Kindle Unlimited wish list as I'm trying to get the most out of my monthly subscription.  This will be another KU edition.

Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies: Catherine Mack - I know this is a rather popular book and I received an email a few weeks ago it is now available on KU so I added it to the list.  I also see this is now a series, so I apparently need to get cracking on book one.

Helloween: Duncan Ralston - Halloween, dangerous entity, teens fighting for their lives (although I believe this is an adult book). I mean, what's not to like.  The one thing holding me back is apparently this book is 696 pages.  That's one long Halloween night.

St. Lucifer's School for Girls: A.M. Caplan - All I basically needed was the title to add this to the list of books I might read one day.  The cover doesn't hurt either.

So, there you have it.  Have you read any of these by some chance?  Where would you start if these were on your list?

Buried by Books #5

It's been a while but it's time for another edition of Buried by Books where I showcase some fun and sometimes unusual books which have landed on hold through my local libraries.  This time around I'm once again focusing on books on Kindle Unlimited I have added to my KU borrow wish list on Amazon.  You all know there are ALWAYS some interesting books on KU.

Thank You for the Days: Dan Brotzel - I'm pretty sure I was sucked in by the dog in this one named Ziggy.  It is also centered around the premise of celebrating some weird pop culture holiday every day for a year.  Sounds peculiar and perhaps like something I will enjoy.  And also - Ziggy.

I Pittie the Yule: Kathryn Mykel - I have to make time for this one before the season is over.  Look at that adorable cover.  And I'm in the mood for a cozy.  Do you see a theme here?

The Vampires of York Tower: Kirsten McKenzie - What's a list without a vampire book?  I don't even remember adding this one to be honest, but when I read the synopsis again, I'm glad I did.

I really have to start making an effort to use my KU subscription more.  These books might be a good place to start.

Buried by Books #4

It's time for another installment of "look at all the crazy titles I have on hold," or at least that's what it feels like sometimes.  This time there's a twist.  I also a, a KU subscriber so I'm constantly adding title to an Amazon wish list I call "KU Want to Read."  Original huh.  There should definitely be some questionable titles on this one.

Summer Camp for Slasher Victims:  I am pretty sure this one initially landed on my Facebook feed somehow. However, I love summer camp horror and slashers, so I figured why not?  I'm hoping to get to this one in August while the temps are still hot.  Summer camps books in the winter just aren't as much fun.

Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop:  This will be an October read for sure!  I love the character's name - Bailey Briggs (if you know you know) and she has a dog named Jack Skeleton!  This is the start to a new mystery series, and I can't wait to see what titles are next.

A Gargoyle Gripe: This is actually a second book in a monster romance series but the first is on KU as well and involves werewolves, or at least I think it does.  If I find some sort of entertainment in the first two, there are three more crazy books to follow.

So, have you read any of these?  Do any sounds like something you might want to pick up in the future?

Buried by Books #3

It's time to once again evaluate my bad habit of putting things on hold on Libby for all kinds of reasons.  It's been a while since my last one, so I figured it was time to share some of my latest, and sometimes
questionable, holds.

The Breakup Tour: Emily Wibberly & Austin Siegemund-Broka - Pretty sure this one landed on the reserve list around the same time as Dead Poet's Society was released.  I am not a Swiftie but do enjoy some of her songs.  Don't know when or if I'll get to this one.  I keep pushing it back and I'm not sure I'm really very interested.

The Last Bloodcarver: Vanessa Le - Strictly added because of the cover.  Do you blame me?

Stories I Only Tell My Friends: Rob Lowe - I added this after watching Brat on Hulu the day it came out.  I'm an 80's child so what can I say? I really enjoy the documentary and it renewed my interest in the Brat Pack and I may currently have a physical copy of the Andrew McCarthy book checked out from my local library as well right now 😁.

Buried by Books #2

It's time to once again evaluate my bad habit of putting things on hold on Libby for all kinds of reasons.  Hope you enjoyed last week's post and if you didn't catch it, you can find it HERE.

The Cats of Silver Crescent: Kaela Noel - So the only thing better than talking cats is talking dogs.  Still interested in reading this one although I know I've pushed it back twice so far.

Middle of the Night: Riley Sager - So I've only read one book by this author, and I didn't really like it. Yes, I'm talking about you Final Girl with all your grape soda and Xanax glory.  I'm convinced I want to love this author like so many other people.  Maybe this book will be the one to convince me one way or another.

Love Letters to a Serial Killer: Tasha Coryell- This is my most recent hold and honestly, I think it was the tagline on the cover "P.S. Please don't kill me."

Buried by Books #1

Guess what?  I have a bad habit and it's time I come clean.  Late at night, I like to browse all the libraries that I have cards attached to Libby and see what they are adding.  Then I just randomly start putting saves on them.  This can happen for many reasons - I like the covers, I've seen them on other sites, I love the author, or even simply why not?

Then before I know it, I have 75 books on hold, on top of my own books, arcs and even physical library books and they all arrived at once and I keep pushing back actually borrowing them, sometimes over and over again. I know I'm not the only one who does this am I?  So, I wanted to start a new feature where every week or two, I showcase three books which have landed on that hold list and some potential reasons why.  So welcome to the first edition!  Also, you can click on the titles to go to the Goodreads page in case you really want to know more about them and possibly add them to your Libby too!

The Bittlemores: Jann Arden - I requested this for two reasons actually.  I remember Arden as a 90's chart singer and the cow.  What's it about?  I think there's a farm and a quirky family.  I could have told you more if I had actually read it instead of pushing my hold back at least three separate times.  Oh well, I'm sure it will circle around again.

The Twilight Garden: Sara Nisha Adams - Pretty sure this is purely on my hold list because I liked the wolf on the cover, which seriously has to be a fox in all reality now that I'm REALLY looking at it, and because I saw it on Tammy's site over at Books, Bones & Buffy.  Hey, if Tammy wants to read it, I usually do too.

Polly Parker Meets Her Shadow: Victoria Lowery - No clue but it's still on hold.

So come on, spill it.  Do any of you do the same thing? And have you read any of these?  I apparently need more motivation to stop pushing them back.
