Can't Wait Wednesday (105)

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

FROM GOODREADS: An all original anthology of stories inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. ‘Alice’ has been read, enjoyed, and savored by generations of children and adults since its publication. It’s hallucinogenic, weird, imaginative and full of wordplay, mathematical puzzles, and political and social satire.”

Mad Hatters and March Hares will features stories that are inspired by the strange events and characters that appear in Wonderland.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I know it sounds strange but I didn't like "Alice in Wonderland" when I read it and couldn't stand Alice.  However, I liked the people/creatures/world she encountered so I quite enjoy Alice retellings.  I fell in love with the cover of this book and couldn't resist adding it to my wishlist. It's a long wait though.

WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???

  3. It looks cool but I tried one Alice retelling and didn't even like it so I have decided that is one tale that is just not me. :)

    1. I think the original would have been great without Alice, but that kind of defeats the point huh?

  9. I hope you enjoy it, Barb. The Datlow anthologies are usually long and I find the stories a mixed bag.

  11. I had my eye on this one too! I'm worried that a lot of the stories will be too weird for me though, given the theme and all :)

    1. The animals were definitely a plus. I didn't know they were making a film about the March Hare.

  16. Oh, this sounds SO WONDERFUL!! (Pardon the pun, lol.) I was indeed an Alice fan when I was a kid, although it's been such long time since I first read the books, I really should read them again! I, too, loved all the strange, quirky characters in these novels. And oh, how I HATED the Queen of Hearts!! She just kept screaming, "Off with her head!" I thought the Mad Hatter was SO funny! And the Cheshire cat! You're making me want to run and get NEW copies of these books, since my childhood ones are a little battered.... PLUS now I want this books of stories, as well!! AWESOME PICK!!!!

Thanks so much for always visiting and commenting on my CWW post!! Sorry for the late comment back.... :(
