Weekly Reads (01/19/18) - Who Ticked Off Mother Nature???

So although I had a nice three day weekend last weekend, it was full of cold temps, snow and ice.  In fact, as I type this, a lot of the snow and ice is still around.  I'm so through with winter it isn't even funny.  I know people up north have had it much worse, I'm just being a whiner.  We are expecting a warm-up though starting this weekend so that's good news.

I did get some reading done and we watched a few movies but nothing that really stands out.  We broke down and streamed "Day of the Dead: Bloodline" because Mr. Barb is a zombie fanatic and "Friend Request" which I'm not gonna lie, made me (and Mr. Barb) jump in a few places - although the rest of the movie wasn't that great.

I also managed to work some more on the "library" in the house. Right now I'm in the decluttering stage and am tossing things out left and right.  Mr. Barb did give me money for new book shelves for my birthday, which was this past week. It was also Cass' "Coming Home Day" because he was a birthday present 4 years ago and we picked him up that day.

So this weekend, more decluttering is on tap along with some more reading.  I'm currently reading "The Chalk Man" and here's what's on tap afterwards.

So I hope you all have had a warm and happy week?  Any fun plans this weekend?

  1. That dog in the video clip is having great fun! We are getting some proper winter weather at the moment which is reminding me of the joys of a warm fire and home made soup! Happy belated birthday!

I'll be interested in what you think of The Chalk Man which I want to read and Arachnosaur. Bob's review of that put me off the idea of reading it so I'll be interested in your opinion.

  2. Ooh is that a new Dean Koontz? Sorry about your weather. Anytime you want to pop on over to California and warm up, let me know (Although I think it's supposed to rain today, but I'll believe it when I see it!)

    1. It's one of those Kindle interactive things. I was curious and got it free on Prime lending so I took a chance. We'll see how it turns out. Should be a quick read as it's under 110 pages.

  3. Ugh, I am so done with the snow and the cold. Haha, that pup was having such a fun time by the end of his little tumble :) I hadn't seen that new Koontz. He's so hit and miss for me that I'll wait and see what you all think. Have a great weekend!

    1. It's a novella and actually it's pretty decent. I was hesitant with the whole Kindle Interactive thing but since I could get it for free with my Prime account, I figured I wasn't out anything. Hope to finish it tonight. Yea, wish I enjoyed snow and ice as much as that pup!

  5. The weather is quite crazy. I live in the mountains in Colorado and it's ~50 degrees today...supposed to snow all weekend. *sigh* I do love winter though. :) Sounds like you had a good weekend. Happy belated birthday and good luck getting your library all set up!

  6. Ugh the weather has been nuts! I hated Friend Request to be honest. It wasn’t scary, slightly funny though. I hope you’re enjoying The Chalk Man! I’m dying to read that one. 😊

    1. Thanks. It was a solid debut, but I think others loved it more than I did.
