What's Happening....

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So we've had a brief warm up, but as I write this on Friday it's cold again so I guess we can't disguise the fact that it's still winter.  Honestly, I'm already over it so bring on Spring.  This past week has been busy and odd.  Not bad and hard to describe, just odd.

We have managed to watch a few movies.  Mr. Barb had really been wanting to see "Overlord" so when it came out on digital Tuesday, he bought it.  I have to admit the effects were pretty good and the plot decent, but I expected more monsters from it.  Then we watched a foreign horror "Mermaid: Lake of the Dead."  I actually liked it well enough even though the characters kept making stupid decision after stupid decision.  But sometimes that a horror staple right?

I have been reading and yes, "The Passage" is still haunting me.  It WILL be finished this month.  I'm almost finished with "Pit List Murders" and will then move on to "An Unwanted Guest" and "A Dog Called Jack."

So I picked up a few holds at the library this week.  I'm super excited to get to "Hunting Annabelle" and "No Exit", as well as a little leery of "Slayer."

And this week's Kindle Freebie of the week is "The Curse of Sara Douroux."  This sounds like a pretty decent haunted tale so I couldn't resist grabbing it.

So how was your week?  Any good plans for the weekend and books are you hauling and reading???

  1. This weekend is about watching TV and reading! A bit like every other weekend! Masterchef US season 9, a BBQ pork chow mein for dinner and a book that I haven't chosen yet!

  2. It was -11 a few days ago, and it was 30 when I went running yesterday. I’m done with winter, too! I watched No Escape Room last night, and the characters did some really dumb stuff. That always frustrates me.

  3. Yeah, I'm over winter too. It's raining again here after almost a week of steady rain a few weeks ago, so I agree, spring can come anytime! I just started The Beast's Heart so I hope to have a review up this week.

    1. Hope you are managing to avoid all the mudslides. Those things always look so scary. I can't wait to see your review!

  4. I just started RealmShift by Alan Baxter. I have never read anything by him before, so it's brand new territory. Demons, lightning-fast fights, and an urban setting.

  5. I was sick a couple days this week and didn't even feel like reading! It has been cold here too and it is supposed to snow ore this week. I am over it too. I plan to get some small Valentine's day gifts for coworkers this weekend. And of course read and watch some Netflix.

  7. I'm over winter, too! Can we please skip the next three snowstorms scheduled to hit my city this week and move on to spring?! Oh, and I can't wait to hear what you think of Hunting Annabelle. That one's on my list. Have a good weekend! :)

  9. We got three days of springlike temps, but it's back to teens again here, too. Ugh, so depressing. 😕 I'm ready for an early spring, too! 🌱🌷⛅

Have a wonderful, and less odd, week. 🌞

  10. Thanks for the recommendation of The Mermaid. My husband is the one who likes watching all the foreign horror movies on Netflix, but I'm on board with this one...because mermaids! :D

  11. Sounds like usual horror to me when characters make stupid decisions... If not, the villains would have to make too much of and effort, right?
Your new books look good, and I hope you'll enjoy them all, Barb!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  14. It got chilly here Friday too but then warmed up again Saturday. I expect a few more cold blasts before spring is here. Movies were my escape this week. Sadly, I only liked one. But I have finished some really good books.

    1. At least you got some good books read. We ended up watching Widows and The Final Wish over the weekend. Both were decent and I'll have to remember to mention them next week.

  17. You're still working on The Passage? I feel for you! That book lasted me an eternity. I haven't seen any horror movies lately. We were supposed to go see The Prodigy on Tuesday but now we're getting snow, so that's off :(
