TTT - Ten of My Favorite Authors

The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish they  handed over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE.  Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.

This week's choice is a freebie and to be honest, I found myself struggling.  So I'm going to share some of my favorite authors - basically individuals who I will always give their new books a solid chance.

HUNTER SHEA
I rarely have a poor experience with Shea's book (we'll just ignore Fury of the Orcas - which was still 3/5).  If he writes it, I will read it.

Seanan McGuire
I love everything this woman writes.  And since she writes under a pen name as well, there are still so many books out there I still need to get to.  I often joke if she wrote a telephone book (do they still make telephone books?) I'd read it.

Christina Henry
While not all of her novels have been hits for me, I'll still give any book she writes a try.

STEPHEN KING
Are words even needed?

JOE HILL
See Stephen King explanation 😆

CHARLAINE HARRIS
I think I enjoy her books the further along she writes.  Sookie was a blast and I think the Harper Connelly books didn't get enough credit.  Aurora Teagarden is a lot of fun and her Midnight Texas series was my fave until her Gunnie Rose series came along.  Give me more please!

ILONA ANDREWS
I can't get enough of this wife/husband writing duo.

KIRA JANE BUXTON
So she only has one novel so  far but it speaks volumes that she is already on this list!

JONATHAN JANZ
During this year, he quickly became a must-read author.

GRADY HENDRIX
As long as he doesn't kill anymore dogs - poor Max.

So there you have it.  There's so many year-end lists going around and others I plan to do so this was kind of a struggle.  Hope you enjoyed!  Any authors you would add???

  1. I can't believe I still haven't read Hunter Shea. And yay for Kira Jane Buxton, Hollow Kingdom's going on my list of favorite debuts that's scheduled for later this week, it's hard to believe this was her first book.

  2. I really need to try Shea at some point!

  3. I've still to read quite a few of Shea's books-about seven or so! Need to tackle them and try Grady Hendrix and Jonathan Janzas well. I'm a bit worried about the dog killing bit though...

    1. It's in My Best Friend's Exorcism and it was totally pointless. I even tweeted him - that's how angry I was. I never do that. The book was awesome without adding it.

  4. Yes to so many of these! Grady Hendrix is just getting better and better, I think. And I'm about halfway through Hollow Kingdom and now I'm a fan for life of Kira Jane Buxton. OMG this book!!

    1. My absolute fave is The Shining. It's one of the few books I've read multiple times. I also really enjoyed Christine but I grew up around old cars so I think that has a lot to do with it.

  8. Stephen King used to be a big auto-buy author for me, but I haven't read anything of his in a long time. I think I got burned out on him as a teenager. I always add his books to my TBR lists, though, because I do like him - it just seems like I never actually get around to reading them.

    Happy TTT!

    1. I think because I've read so much, it's really just a new book or two by him each year which is how I manage so many.

  9. Hollow Kingdom has been on my wishlist for so long - perhaps I can make it a Christmas present to myself.

  10. I have become such a fickle reader that this is hard. I'd have to say Stephen King & Robert McCammon will always be on this list for me. Jeff Strand & Sonora Taylor would be there too.

    1. I keep meaning to pick up some Strand. I am pretty sure I've snagged a few on my Kindle.

  13. Some great authors on here. I prefer Seanan McGuire's Mira Grant stuff, but she's just all around very talented. I've like most of the Joe Hill stuff I've read. (My favorite is by far The Fireman.) I didn't realize that Ilona Andrews was a husband/wife duo. Now I'm really curious to check out one of their books!

    1. I've actually not read much as Mira Grant except for the mermaid one. But I liked it a lot. I still need to get to The Fireman.

  16. Oh I 1000% agree on Charlaine Harris' Harper Connelly books. I've not been able to get into her Sookie series, but everyhting else is a big yes for me too! I also want to check out more of Christina Henry's work.

    1. I liked Sookie but think it should have ended before it did. You need to read Lost Boy if you haven't. It's my favorite Henry so far.
