Can't Wait Wednesday (175)

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

FROM GOODREADS: School's out for the end of the world.

Anna and the Apocalypse is a horror comedy about a teenager who faces down a zombie apocalypse with a little help from her friends.

Anna Shepherd is a straight-A student with a lot going on under the surface: she's struggling with her mom's death, total friend drama, and the fallout from wasting her time on a very attractive boy. She's looking forward to skipping town after graduation--but then a zombie apocalypse majorly disrupts the holidays season. It's going to be very hard to graduate high school without a brain.

To save the day, Anna, her friends, and her frenemies will have to journey straight to the heart of one of the most dangerous places ever known, a place famous for its horror, terror, and pain...high school.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  The Christmas holidays are usually the one time of year I reserve for any cutesy or romantic books but even so, I still like to find some non-traditional Christmas reads.  This one sounds fun and humorous and it's definitely going on the December TBR.

WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???

  1. I need to make time for some zombies before the year is out as I've been neglecting them this year!

  5. I've been seeing a lot of apocalypse books of various kinds lately. (I recently read one that had lots of dogs in it--Critically Endangered.) I'm interested in a Christmas book that has zombies in it--plus high school!

  11. I don't think I've ever heard a book described as a horror comedy before, so I'm intrigued.

My Scottoline recommendation to you is One Perfect Lie.

Thanks for featuring this one, and I KNOW you'll enjoy it! (Who knows, I might, too! At least it's NOT Stephen King!! Haha!!)

  15. Nice pick! I prefer my zombie apocalypse fiction more in the realm of pure horror, but some humor can be good!
