Weekly Reads/Stacking the Shelves (176)/Sunday Post

So for the sake of time, you all are getting one combo post for me but that's okay, I think it will work out fine.  Things here at The Farm have been hot.  We're have unseasonable temperatures all week but there is a cool down anticipated this weekend.  I don't want winter but I am ready for fall. Booker T and Cass are doing well and have been gracing Instagram with their mugs so make sure you following if you want more pup pics (although there will still be plenty here on the blog).

We managed to watch three movies in the past week or so.  First up was "Final Score" which was really enjoyable and is about someone trying to blow up a huge soccer arena.  Next up was "Jurassic World" which was exactly what I expected from the franchise.  It was really good but I have to admit I was teary-eyed in one part.  For anyone who has seen it...the poor dino watching the boats leave.  STILL makes me sad.  And finally we watched "Mandy," a new horror movie with Nicholas Cage.  Strange is an understatement and I don't think I really enjoyed it that much.

I am hoping to finish my current read tonight - "Providence."  I am really enjoying it and have only about 25% left.  After that, I will be switching it up between a science fiction novel and a historical mystery.

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you cans you cam include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews. And it now has a new co-host where individuals can link up as well - Marlene from Reading Reality.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.  I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted by Kimberly@Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate from La La in the Library during Dog Days of Summer so I bought "A Borrowing of Bones" which was just released this month.

And of course I had to drop off a book at the library and another hold was in - "Campfire."  Plus they had just received a new Bentley Little book - "The Handyman."

So what did you add to your shelves this week???

  1. My dad and I both want to see Final Score and I still haven't seen the new Jurassic film. My dad watched Rampage last week and loved it. I haven't watched any of the shark films I planned which is annoying but hope to fit in a few this weekend.

    1. I loved Rampage a lot. Of course I had to know what happened to George before I watched it.

  3. I love all the Jurassic Park and World movies but the Jurassic World 2 wasn't as good as the others I thought. Still enjoyable though and my little brother loved it!

    1. I don't expect a lot when I watch them other than special effects and action. They are pretty good at delivering that.

  6. Campfire was one that caught my eye, but I haven't picked it up yet because of the mixed reviews. Maybe I should check if my library has it too!

    1. I just got my review posted. It had its ups and downs but considering it was a library book, I was out nothing and it was at least entertaining.

  12. We went from oppressively hot to too chilly. I have had to keep my windows shut already and I hate doing that before mid-October. I am a fresh air kind of girl. Ha ha. 🍁

I am glad everyone on the doggie front is doing well. 🐕

    Enjoy your new books. 📚✨

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  13. We've had rain the last two weeks (on and off), so it's mostly felt humid and uncomfortable. However, last night it was 68 degrees and I wanted to open all the windows! I love fall and cannot wait for those brisk winds and warm clothes!

  14. I'm so with you on being ready for fall but not winter (and you're right, we are pretty close :) ). Jurassic World II wasn't great, although it was what I was expecting, too. The left behind dino was super sad, though. Campfire looks fun. I kind of hate that cover, but I'll definitely check it out. Lol. Happy reading!

  15. I hope the weekend did bring you cooler weather. We've been glad to open the windows in the evenings now--but the air conditioner is still running during the day. The Jurassic movies are fun, aren't they? I felt so bad for the dinosaurs in Jurassic World. I am glad to hear you are enjoying Providence. I hope you enjoy your new books, Barb! Have a great week!

    1. Our AC is still in the windows as well, and probably will be until the end of October. Seems the minute we take them out, it gets hot again so we just wait now.

  18. I don't want it to get cold but I wouldn't mind some cooler weather. It has been so hot. Nicholas Cage has some really bad movies. Some good ones but some stinkers. Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new reads!
