Books to Bark (and Crow) About #8

Hello humans!  I'm back. Of course, I never really went anywhere.  My stitches come out in 5 days and counting and I'm feeling good.  While I was resting, I was able to browse some book sites and with the cooler temps and fall weather coming up, found some great books featuring some awesome dog characters for you to cuddle with.  Cass has allowed me full reign of this post since I've been "under the weather."  He really didn't have to since I am feeling good but we won't tell him will we? And because I was a tad gloomy, you might even find a romantic comedy in the mix.

Two unexpected homecomings to a dog-crazy town.

A secret that binds three hearts to the past.

Can one spoiled beagle sniff out the truth at last?

Remi Malone has conquered lifelong shyness with help from Leo, her unofficial therapy dog. The promotion she craves is finally within reach. All she needs to do is land a big donation for the hospital foundation from a visiting heiress.

Hannah Pemberton isn’t thrilled about being back in Dorset Hills to open an exhibit of her late mother’s art. “Dog Town” has become a joke and the visit is stirring up old ghosts. She can’t even remember Remi, the hometown advocate.

Tiller Iverson broke Remi’s heart in high school and left town 12 years ago. Now he’s back with his annoying dog, using his charm on Hannah to win the donation and the job Remi wants. He only has Labor Day weekend to pull it off.

Everyone’s stressed… even Leo. And when Leo’s misdeeds get him barred from duty, Remi’s budding confidence is shaken. She’ll never get the second chance she deserves without her canine sidekick.

But in Dorset Hills, where there’s a dog there’s usually a way.

When the dramatically dumped and practically penniless Emma Iverson inherits a rundown roadside attraction from her eccentric and possibly deranged Great Aunt Geraldine, the last thing she expects is that the inheritance will come with strings attached.

If Emma wants to take over as proprietress of Little Tombstone Cafe, Curios, Museum and Trailer Court, she has to promise to love, honor and cherish her great aunt's geriatric and cantankerous pug, the unfortunately monikered Earp. "Til death do you part," it says so, right there in the will.

What Great Aunt Geraldine's will conveniently omits to mention are the dead bodies buried under the trailer court.

Erin learned a lot from her partner: stay alert, follow your nose, and once you've got your teeth in them, never let go.

It’s tough working nights with the NYPD. The crime rate is high, the hours are terrible, and forget about a personal life. So when Officer O’Reilly and her K-9 Rolf switch over to the day shift, things are looking up. She’s even able to find time for a new boyfriend.

But when the theft of a priceless painting from the Queens Museum leaves a fellow police officer dead, Erin and her four-legged partner find themselves dealing with dangerous criminals, sleazy art dealers, and obstructive detectives in a race to capture the killers...and just maybe bring closure to a 75-year-old crime.

So there you have it.  Some books you can grab and read when the leaves start falling and the winds start howling.  Until next time!
