What's Happening...(05-11-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So we had all kinds of different weather this week.  Some heat, some rain and then this weekend the highs are supposed to be in the low 60s.  It's kind of crazy but I'm glad we haven't had storms and I do feel badly for everyone getting tons of rain and flooding.

We managed to watch a few movies this past week which was kind of nice.  We finally watched "Bumblebee" which yep, made me tear up.  We also watched "The Highwaymen" on Netflix which was good but kind of slow.  I finished "Santa Clarita Diet" but am still ticked off it didn't renew.  I also started "Dead to Me" which I am really liking, so Netflix will probably cancel it too.  Lastly we rented "The Prodigy" Thursday night but when it was clear that the poor dog was going to come to a gruesome end we shut it off.  I won't be revisiting that one.

Cass is doing well and look for him to take over some blogging duties soon.  I've been walking him a lot by myself after work while Mr. Barb is at the gym and I think both of us find it therapeutic.  I also got some reading done.  I FINALLY started "NOS4A2" and will be squeezing it in between some other obligations.  This weekend I will be adding "Antarctic Ice Beasts" and it would be nice if I could get it finished quickly.

I also received a few books for review which I am thrilled about.  First up, I almost jumped up and down when I received an approval for "The Toll."  I LOVE Cherie Priest and can't wait for this one.  I couldn't resist the cute little bunny on the cover of "Left Fur Dead" which is the first in a new cozy mystery.  And finally, "The Dead Girls Club" sounds too spooky and too good to pass up.

So what did you guys add this week?  Have you been watching anything good?

  1. Our weather has been a mixed bag of chilly winter winds, warm spells and teeming rain! It can't make up its mind what to do at the moment! I'm glad Cass is doing ok as I know you've been worried about him.

I like the look of The Toll and that is firmly on wishlist! I do have a few Joe Hill to get to but big books scare me now!

  3. "Left Fur Dead," oh how I love clever cozy titles!

I saw the Highwaymen last week, too. I loved it. The slow parts were okay with me because it was a quiet, relaxing Friday evening for us.

    1. It was a nice relaxing movie in that sense. I find that Harrelson and Costner work well together.

  4. I am so mad that they are not renewing Santa Clarita Diet! That is the second show that I have liked and they didn't renew. Travelers was the other one. I have been hearing a lot about Dead to Me lately. Enjoy your books and your walks.

    1. I expected more of a cliffhanger for SCD than what I got but I feel it still left us hanging. I love Drew Barrymore and hope to see her in something else soon.

  7. Dead to Me is getting some pretty rave reviews all over the sphere, so hopefully they will keep it around. I haven't watched it but will probably will watch it over the weekend. NOS4A2 is one of those books I want to read...but probably never will. Happy reading!

  11. Antarctic Ice Beasts looks amazing! It combines a snowy setting with a creature feature, which is like two of my favorite tropes in horror! I still need to read Hunter Shea, maybe this is the one for my first :)

  12. Nice to hear Cass is enjoying his walks, and you too. It's been cold here, but I'm not going to complain. Ha! 🌷

I hear you on trying to stuff regular reading inbetween review obligations. My summer looks pretty light wuth ARCs and I hope to keep it that way. 👍

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  16. Glad to hear that Cass is doing okay. along with you and Mr. Barb. I'm mad about some shows too. They add them then don't renew once you get hooked. I'm thinking of trying Shudder.
