Waiting on Wednesday (29)

Waiting on" Wednesday is weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming anticipated releases.

Releases July 14, 2016
FROM GOODREADS: A spine-chilling psychological thriller from stunning YA talent and author of THE DEAD HOUSE, Dawn Kurtagich.

When Silla and her little sister, Nori, escape London and their abusive father, Aunt Cath's country house feels like a safe haven. Leaving the smog and fear behind, the girls have the love and freedom they never had in their violent home. But slowly, ever so slowly, things begin to unravel.

Aunt Cath locks herself in the attic and spends day and night pacing; every day the surrounding forest inches slowly towards the house; a mysterious boy appears from the enclosing wood offering friendship, and Nori claims that a man watches them from the dark forest. A man with no eyes who creeps ever closer. . .

Psychologically sinster and creepily atmospheric, Dawn's second YA title is sure to grip fans of Stephen King, Kendare Blake and James Dawson.

WHY I'M WAITING: Even though I didn't like The Dead House as much as others, I still found it to be a solid read and I think Kurtagich has an amazing mind for horror.  I am looking forward to see what she comes up with next.

  1. I read a short story once that had a similar idea behind it. Things in the woods that aren't what they seem to be and creeping ever closer. It was chilling. Hope this one lives up to your expectations.

  2. Sounds chilling...I hate when characters leave one bad situation, only to find themselves in another. Great reading, though. Enjoy. Here's mine: “FLAWED”

  3. What a creepy cover and sounds creepy too!
    Lynn :D

  4. So putting this on my list to look out for! I am like you I didn't like The Dead House as much as others but I am curious to see what her next book will be like. :)

  5. Ohh Great pick I haven't read the Dead House yet, because I don't think is my kind of book. But this one sure looks creepy and fantastic at the same time. I most definitely do want to check out her books soon because they all looks and sounds great! Here is my #WOW http://katibookaholicrambligreview.blogspot.com/2015/11/waiting-on-wednesday-14-court-of-mist.html

  6. That's a bizarre, creepy cover.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  7. OMG.....this is DEFINITELY a VERY creepy read! Not sure I would be able to take this....I'm such a coward! Lol. Aside from that, though, I do like the cover. It's amazingly STUNNING!

Hope you enjoy this book when you get it!

Sorry for the very late comment back.....Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my own WOW!! : )
